Without knowing the finer details of his wrist injury, and when you read his instagram post, he seems to have just written himself off this season. It’s a very disappointing situation for all concerned. If he recovers, gets a full pre-season under his belt, and breaks again at the start of next season, we should be offloading him by any means possible for the sake of the club and him. I’d empty him now, however, as previously said.

I said at the time of his first injury that is was because Kettlewell lobbed him into the Rangers game before he was fully fit, and it’s generally been downhill for him since then in terms of fitness. Totally agree Kettlewell didn't manage it very well. It's going to take time for him to get fully fit after 2 longish injuries. Hopefully a good rest, take his missus back to see her family and turn up for pre season ready to go. If it turns out to be a continuation of this season then we look at it again. Yeah - must have been a bad break - I've got a ten inch plate in my leg so can sympathise. Think he's already had the surgery. He said as much on his Instagram. joewarkfanclub
No way the club are offloading a player we paid a 6 figure sum for without trying to re-hab him and recoup some of our outlay. It would be very poor business to do so. The 3 injuries he has had are all different, so to suggest that his body isnt equipped for Scottish football without any further knowledge or medical information is presumptious at best. Given that he has 2 years left on his contract he wont be going anywhere. Better to offload some of the players we already know are not up to the standard/fitness required for Wimmerball and give us options/support up front. The loan boys will be away with Armstrong the only one Id consider trying to get permanently. Also, I think we need to be careful with suggesting that his injuries are "convenient". He may well be finding it difficult to settle, but how do you fake having surgery and a metal plate in your wrist? We need to give the boy a break and all the support we can as a club AND as a support.

You don't. There's no way someone could play after having surgery and a metal plate put in his arm.

thewelllfan
Extending SOD feels like when we extended Nathan Mcginley all over again. Slattery's looked good in recent weeks so being able to keep hold of him should soften the blow of when Lennon leaves a bit. Squad under contract for next season currently is Oxborough SOD, Koutrombis, Gordon, Balmer, Wilson Miller, Slattery, Nicholson, Sparrow Stam, Robinson, Maswanhise With Jordan Mcghee agreeing to join on a pre-contract apparently And Stuparevic and Wells returning from loans So 16 under contract for next season would be looking to move 2/3 on
joewarkfanclub
It was mentioned previously that SODs extension was probably appearance related. Given the number of games he has played this season, thats most likely to be the case. Im pretty relaxed about it. He does make mistakes, but is no where near as bad as some make him out to be. He is a local lad and senior pro. Every club needs them to drive standards and look after the younger ones. He may not play that many games if McGhee comes in and McGinn gets fit again, but a good utility player to have in a squad. PS delighted the club have taken their option on Slattery. He is looking good right now and we might get suitors in close season. If we dont he has proved a very useful player to have around.
Richie
Its quite funny though, as Wimmer praises Slattery for his technical attributes and for how important he is to the team, but O'Donnell for his training and leadership.

I think that's a pretty fair reflection of their attributes. No doubt SOD'S extension resulted from his appearance based option kicking in. I believe both SOD and Slats had a contract ending this year but had a twelve month option which the club have obviously triggered

I thought it was 12 months with the option of another 12 same as Slattery - pretty sure McGinn was on the same terms Actually having googled it looks like it would be triggered after a certain number of appearances - but the official site didn't say this - was an interview with him that made that clear
