Extending SOD feels like when we extended Nathan Mcginley all over again.

Slattery's looked good in recent weeks so being able to keep hold of him should soften the blow of when Lennon leaves a bit.

Squad under contract for next season currently is

Oxborough

SOD, Koutrombis, Gordon, Balmer, Wilson

Miller, Slattery, Nicholson, Sparrow

Stam, Robinson, Maswanhise

With Jordan Mcghee agreeing to join on a pre-contract apparently

And Stuparevic and Wells returning from loans

So 16 under contract for next season would be looking to move 2/3 on

I know SOD has his moments but I am happy to see him sign. Be a good squad player.  And he is nowhere near as bad as McGinley was

Yeah I do - but this is his sixth season for us. I think he gets a lot of unnecessary stick that others don't

I honestly don't think fans single a player out just for the sake of it ....I've never booed a player but some exasperate me when they keep giving similar goals away but like you say mgrs keep playing him....most of them have dropped him too though.

Odonnell is an excellent professional and at no point in the years he’s played with us  have I doubted his effort or doubted his willingness to be here. (We’ve had a lot of players who would be happy to be elsewhere and defenders not as good as him, who have been loved by fans).

im ok with him signing, i think he is a decent player and worth keeping.

I don't think he's as bad as Mcginley was either I was just likening my reaction to the extension to the way I felt about Mcginley's. Certainly his first 2 seasons with us he was great I just feel he has massive dips in form each year and we can't afford to have players like that in CB and I don't think he has the engine on him to be playing RWB either. I also suspect he'd be one of our top earners considering his International experiences so would be looking to move him on.

Disagree . Would not keep him if we want to progress.  Effort and willingness should be minimal standard for all of our players. What he lacks is pace and technical ability.  You could tell from St Mirren game he was way off pace of the balls, often punted ball out to no one and positional sense lacking also. Main concern is his lack of pace and slower decision making.  I think this should be his last season.

If you want lack of pace, poor decision making, slack passing and questionable technical ability, look no further than Dan Casey.

I would not totally disagree, however he offers power and is great shot blocker. Also he is now a goal threat.

Like who.

Like loads of players. Go look at the Motherwell facebook any given day and you'll see people slagging SOD off left right and centre - obviously other people get slated too but he gets a lot of stick - just my view. You don't need to agree

I think when Dan is on his game he's good and when he's not he's not. Still rather have him in the squad though

I wouldn't call him a goal threat - he's like Slattery in my view. Doesn't score many but when he does they count. If that makes sense

I don't , have you been to many games this season?

I don't think SOD is a bad footballer

I've seen some bad footballers in my time and in terms of work rate, passing etc. he is ok.

The major issue is that he is culpable in a lot of the goals we lose,  he shouldn't be in a back three and lacks the pace required to be a wing back.

These are not fixable problems. He would be better to move on.

SODs is fine, we need a squad. We are about to go through another significant rebuild with a manager thats new to the country, so having an experienced player thar can cover multiple positions is valuable. He may make mistakes, but we have a squad full of players that make mistakes, it just happens to be that we all notice more when SOD is involved.

I'll preface my next comment with the fact that every goal in every game could probably be tracked down to a defender doing something wrong, and sometimes you just have to accept that making defenders make mistakes is kind of the point of attacking, but Casey has been culpable for a bunch of goals this season too.

This - someone just posted on Facebook saying that SOD is responsible for every goal we concede - he was being sarcastic. It made me laugh 🤣
