Well only if SOD Slattery and McGinn get new contracts... Some posters will combust.

We have offered deals to Kelly, SOD, McGinn, Slattery and Nicholson.

Halliday has a deal as well.

The 46 hours between the full time whistle on Sunday and now were the highlight of the season.

How do you know this? Someone on pie and bov I believe who is a  journalist said Kelly wasn't offered a new deal.

Sod and McGinn have been offered 1 year deals with slightly reduced contract

Are folk who work in the club leaking this? Because obviously the retained list isn't out yet.

It's only taken 2 days from season end to start slagging of players we haven't signed.

Sounds like a good time to stop reading this thread and just wait for the formal announcements from the club.

Where would the fun be in doing that? I personally love this time of year. All the rumours, people getting raging about players we haven't signed, the frenzied Google searches for Wiki pages of some random League 2 reserve striker who's scored 3 goals in 576 games etc.

That would seem like decent business, if true. Two guys who can do a job but hopefully with contracts to reflect their reduced roles in the coming season.

Of course no one is leaking it. It's all coming from random Twitter accounts and online rumours.

Well that makes more sense - the rumours I mean.

The Players to their friends…….both want to stay but would prefer 2 year deals

Ah ok. I'd like to keep both. From recollection SOD came to Motherwell hoping for a bigger deal elsewhere but it didn't happen. I remember my brother being surprised that we had got him.

For SOD certainly. I would expect McGinn to continue to be a first team starter next season. Reduced terms could potentially see us lose him to a rival.

(For the record I don't know Paul McGinn or Stephen O'Donnell and am in no way associated with either player nor the club on a professional basis)

If we're losing Kelly and some other long-term players then we will need a few experienced heads who know the club and who can help the transition to a new era of sorts. If O'Donnell is one of them, on a reduced contract that has both term and finances to reflect his current and future position in the squad, then I'm happy with that.

Andy Halliday sneaking onto the squad list is a sickner. Lennon Miller should be looking to get out of Fir Park as soon as possible as he's playing with compete duds who will drag him down with them.

It was made clear in January Halliday would be signing a permanent deal in the summer. Don't see how retaining him would be any huge surprise.

Or he'll shine more and more, lead them forward and demonstrate just how shit hot a player he is.

See? It works both ways.

I didn't see anyone dragging Miller down last season.

What position?

Right of a back 3 as he has been. He's the best defender at the club imo. We do need a new CB though and possibly 2 full backs should Gent not return.

Keep him on the bench and bring him on when we need to shore up. He's too wee to be a centre half in this league. FWIW I like McGinn and he's shown he's a good player for us but something in the defence needs to change.
