steelboy
Kettlewell won't be here much longer it's just a shame we've let him waste our money. That was dire, it's hard to see how we're going to score goals never mind win a game. Caldwell was talking about growing the support. It will be shrinking again if we don't start winning games at home. It's also embarrassing that we're charging so much for the worst away supporter facilities in the league.

Orinoco
The problem with O'donnell is he does not have the legs to play the position he is being asked to do. With the system we play we need pace out wide. The young guys on the bench apparently offer that, but I guess we will have to wait until Christmas to see them. The games are only going to get harder now, so chances of risk taking and playing them will get less and less. Loyalty to players has seldom worked out. Steve Clarke blue print. Spit_It_Out
We just look utterly dull and no ideas that's two weeks in a row that we have nothing about us. Much of a muchness and it will wear thin pretty sharpish. Watched St Mirren the other night looked sparky, solid and properly set out we look a million miles off them right now. As for Halliday he starts every week it's like starting with ten men doesn't offer us anything.

Dossertillidie2
Unpopular opinion but if it someone offers £3-4m that’s being quoted for Lennon miller. I’m biting your hand off for it! This structure and style of football will ruin him
Stevie73
Terrible performance again, too many players can’t do the simple of tasks, passing is atrocious, front two don’t work together, midfield too slow, didn’t win a single second ball today, needs to change very quickly or the long season begins. couttsy
Very very frustrating afternoon. We weren’t great again, but we were far better than last week, and far better than County. Should have won the game. Thats the positivity out the way. Our midfield is a big problem and we need to hope 2 or 3 of the guys injured/on the bench come into the first 11 soon. We can maybe start games with one of Halliday or Davor, but both of them won’t do, too slow, too weak, too ineffective. Miller poor today, but playing too far forward for me, he’s much better coming onto the play in a slightly deeper position. The two up front both missing straight forward chances is also a big concern, let’s hope the Aussie can come in and take the chances. Make no mistake Ross County are really poor and will be in the bottom 2 or 3, so we need to be picking up 3 points at home if we want to avoid getting into trouble. MJC
8 minutes ago, Mccus28 said: I get what you're saying but I can imagine what the usual suspects are gona come away with:- 1-We will be relegated 2-Kettlewell should be sacked 3-Its O'Donnell's fault the Titanic sank Its day 1 of the season, granted we were kinda crap but its soooooo early that I'm not pulling the panic card just yet. We have signed a lot of players (most ended up injured obviously) and they will take time to bed in. I also expect 1 more midfielder to come in. I get that. The problem is that we were saying the same things this time last year about us signing a lot of players and injuries and we now look weaker as a squad than we did back then. We’ve not moved forward, that’s the main point. It’s impossible to say that we will be relegated at this point in the season. My personal opinion is that Kettlewell is done and can’t offer us any more and a change of manager should take place but I think that that’s unlikely to happen in the near future. And Stephen O’Donnell is finished at this level. I’ve never been a fan of him with us as I always questioned his application, but there was never any doubts over his ability, but he is getting older and slower and we cannot, absolutely CANNOT rely on him to be a regular starter for us this season. And the least said about him being ‘vice-captain’ the better.

People will exaggerate how bad we were because we didn't score and didn't win but I didn't think the performance was that bad. It was a game we should have won fairly easily. We've created 5 or 6 decent chances to score today and I've seen plenty Motherwell matches were we didn't create any or only 1 or 2. The problem was we didn't take the chances we made. We are basically playing three holding midfielders in a 5-3-2 with one inexperienced full back and O'Donnell who gives you absolutely nothing up the other side. Maybe O'Donnell works in a back four but in a back 5 he's not capable of the role. Lennon Miller had a poor match today and the other guys are a couple of traffic cones. We need full backs to get forward and two out the three midfielders to get into the box but the guys in those roles don't have the tools for the job. texanwellfan
Hopefully once SK has his preferred first 11 players available we will improve. Ok hopefully we improve before that and at least provide a few chances for our new striker to see what he can do.

Spit_It_Out
We need to address the lack of creativity in the team that's what's holding us back and it was needing addressed weeks ago tbh. Feel like Miller is getting tons of shite piled on his shoulders and he is expected to perform miracles week in week out nah Kettlewell needs get his finger and cheque book out get in a player that can actually pick out a pass or two do something different. Aye Miller is playing more advanced than he should. If he's taking the ball back to goal and a defender up his arse we are not using him properly. Callachan came on and completed 1 pass in about 30 minutes. He's not what we need.

Well you can see how stubburn Kettlewell is. He will keep playing O'Donnell the same way he kept playing Liam Kelly. O'Donnell shouldn't have been re-signed since we have spent the last 2 years trying to find a better right back.
steelboy
At the Q&A Kettlewell was asked about wingers and got quite defensive and started talking about how ineffective Hammell's inverted wingers were. No matter how bad the next manager is they will always be able to say at least you're not watching Halliday and O'Donnell cross 30 shitty balls every game. star sail
I don't think there is anything we have seen so far this season to change the perceptions of individual fans from the end of last season. Those who wanted Kettlewell sacked last season are already building the rhetoric to hold that same position this season. Those (like me) who thinks we are playing a waiting game and that it could still go either way for Kettlewell and the team are still playing a waiting game. It is too early to really say. Halliday will need time if he is to come good this season. He also needs time on the pitch. The new players need time to settle. The positives are that we are unbeaten in our competitive games ths season. (in 90 mins) and we looked better than RC. Interestingly the BBC Text commentary noted some surprise that there was boos coming from sections of the Well support at full time. I think the hangover from last season may be skewing our judgement of what the early season looks like. 1

Stuwell2
Definitely plenty of room for improvement and hopefully we will. At the back Ox looked comfortable and commanded his box well. Wilson is improving week on week and could be an important player this season. The back three managed the RC bullying tactics well but a more skilled team could cause us trouble.SOD is definitely slower but wasn’t as bad as being made out and I think a couple of our best chance’s came from balls he put in. Midfield we’re all at sea at times, second to most balls and need to improve their passing. Forward’s, what to say? Need time to settle but they need to do it quickly.
