I think it deserves its own thread.

Having watched all the pitches, there are some really excellent candidates in there.

Whoever is elected will undoubtedly strengthen the Society Board.

The 2 candidates from America seems a bit strange, unless it's weeyin or Texanwellfan wanting to get involved. I guess Barmack managed to convince them how good we were 🙂

Chris Childers ran last year as well IIRC

He did.

No doubting his enthusiasm and I dare say he could bring something to the party with his US Broadcasting connections.

However, given the current climate and pool of talent available, I think I will be sticking with local Motherwell fans to take fan ownership forward.

For me, the most important thing following election regardless of who gets in, is making sure those who put their name forward still contribute afterwards in some way or form?

Wouldnt disagree with that at all.

Not always the case, but my thought process would be that a Motherwell fan living locally would have more of a vested interest in doing so. Particularly thise candidates who already have some skin in the game re the Our Club, Our Future proposals....

Edit: just read your post again. I think you maybe mean reaching out to our American friends and tapping into that resource, regardless of whether they are elected?

Not me.

Something I'd be interested in, but time (and timezone) means it's not viable for the foreseeable future.

Reaching out to most, if not all.

And whilst this will add some to the board, I believe there’s plans to co-opt after the election when skill gaps are identified.

Seems like the troops are getting their teeth right into improving things!

Good to hear.

Can only vote for 4 candidates. But there were 6 that were really impressive and the rest all had something to offer.

Excellent candidates and I'm having dififculty whittling them down to 4. I'm trying to select a wide range of candidate views and backgrounds as thats what the Society needs. We don't want an echo chamber. I hope unsuccessful candidates will be contacted to enlist their help too.

Would Stirling count as local?! 🤪

I am standing for election. Not a frequent poster here for a long time - used to spend many a day on here.

Happy to answer any questions or take any slagging coming my way 😂

a great set of candidates to be fair, lots of great experiences in there.  Very pleased to see that, regardless of whether I’m elected or not!

Probably stating the obvious but maybe the voting instructions should have said that the vote is confidential.

Are you saying we shouldnt be discussing it?

Stephen Cameron requested that I repost this here for him. It's a post he made on P&B:

'Eye Tourettes' seems to be a thing. Apologies if if made anyone question if I need an intervention. Note to Self: Don't set a timer in the top right of your computer monitor. It's always a tough call to go to the safety of a script to get the whole message across or appear more comfortable speaking from the heart.

I'll throw my hat in the ring on here now too. I also checked Google Maps and it appears I can offer attendance and assistance beyond Zoom calls (see above why this may be beneficial). The main thing is the majority of candidates seeking election are capable, bring a good mix of talent, local and can demonstrate they acted to protect the club.

My main driver for applying is to ensure any roadblocks, slow walking or kicking the can down the road of true fan ownership do not resurface. Also happy to endorse Derek for re-election. Martin and Gavin will also get my other votes for the all the work done, with many others, in contributing to Our Club, Our Future. Still available on the WS website (Well Society Website - Our Club, Our Future). I was privileged to be asked to draft the Governance page (p17).

Please find the link to the presentation I cite in the text and video. Happy to engage with anyone and advocate for anything including the sizeable Asian cuisine lobby .... I will be your champion.

Just to echo others on here,  I’m really impressed with the level of experience in the candidates on the list, it’s a difficult task to narrow it down to 4.

It’s my time to seek re-election so I’ve popped a wee thread on Twitter to detail some of the work I’ve carried out and the reasons why I’m standing again, but ultimately I need to fulfil my commitment to delivering the vision set out in our plan.

https://x.com/derekwatson89/status/1820199100123611382?s=46&t=fyBP-j4_gznJVEo6hqYM1g

Alongside Jay, Phil, Sean, Amber and Markus I’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to get us to a better position. I feel we’re very much on the right track but I want to see that work through to completion. With the right people in place on the Society board and on the Exec board I’m confident we can deliver positive outcomes at Fir Park.

As always, DM’s are open if anyone has any questions at all. Happy to answer.

Regardless of the outcome I believe we’ll be in safe hands going forward. That said, I believe that some continuity would be beneficial and I feel that I’ve got unfinished business in regards to our strategy delivery and on some of the other initiatives that we’ve started moving with Brian Caldwell and Dawn at MFC Trust.

If re-elected, I will continue to make progress on delivering on our strategy and I will ensure that supporters are at the forefront of decision making.

Sadly I won’t be able to make the AGM on the 12th as I’ll be on holiday with my family - but I’ll be at the Killie game the following weekend.

I’ve spent hours going back through a bunch of old posts from when I restarted this place again about 16yrs ago - after taking over from ‘Flow.

Seems the more things change, the more they stay the same! But just shout if anyone wants to ask any Q’s ☺️

Tough decision picking 4 as a lot of great pitches and full credit to everyone for putting themselves forward.

Also want to reassure everyone I am not one of the candidates, could picture the fear if someone went "awwww f***,  so that's grizzlyg?" 🤣🤣
