Winning cups is hard.

Just beat the team you’re drawn against .

Play each game like its a cup final.

Bask in the glory.

Simple

Just a question.. In the group stages, games go straight to penalties. Does the same apply tomorrow in the case of a draw or are we back to thirty minutes extra time?

ET I believe

Extra Time today if level at 90 mins, it’s only the group stages that goes straight to penalties.

Expect it to go all the way today with the boot in the balls at the end with a penalty shootout loss to ensure maximum agony for us.

Apart from us being weak as piss up front and unable to score goals, these types of games are usually the type that Motherwell just do not win….a Cup game against a Premiership side. Our record in such ties is dismal and I think our Scottish Cup 5th Round win over Aberdeen a few years back is our only win against a top flight side in our last TEN.

It does not bode well for today.

And on a separate note, can Tony Watt actually play for us today? As in it is known 100% that if we do select him we aren’t breaking any Cup tied rules??

Tony Watt can play. Different rules for group stages and last 16.

Watt on the bench, Halliday remains undroppable, looks like one up front again. Playing for penalties by the looks of it :wallbash:

Oh no, Was hoping to see Mr Watt and possibly Stamatelopoulos up top today but doesnt even look like hes on the bench 😞

Pretty much expected to see Watt on the bench today.

Stuparevic's goal against Clyde was the last time a Motherwell player scored. We are rank rotten and relying on Halliday, McGinn and O'Donnell to make forward runs. Robinson is Bob McHugh standard and is never a player at this level.

We got our business done early though.....

This isn't a football match

It's a science experiment entitled 'What happens in a footballing vacuum'.

And the answer is of course, absolutely fuck all.

Seems like a few seasons ago. All the non old firm teams are equally shite. If you can just improve a little and add some threat up front it will be a good season. Hopefully when we get SK’s first choice selections available we will look much better but going by the quoted length of injury recovery times we can’t afford to wait for that moment in time.

Both Dundee clubs, St.Mirren and Killie are better than we are. And then of course you’ve got the bigger clubs like Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs. We are a poor, poor side with a manager who is out of his depth.

The club know our support is full of tinks that throw their litter on the park every week so why not have someone out there to pick it up. It looks terrible with the players having to deal with all the shite lying on the park.

Based on this Killie don’t look any better than us. Aberdeen scraped by QP with stoppage time goal. Hearts got beat by falkirk, hibs are struggling. The only one I’d say is Dundee. They seem to be able to score goals just now. But agree that we are a poor side at the moment.
