For me it's pretty glaring when Miller has to play here there and everywhere apart from his natural position we are in trouble cause that midfield is terrible without him in it this was pretty obvious before the window closed and nothing was done about it.

The experiment is over Moses has to start ffs

I honestly think if we had been set up properly today we could have got something out of that.

Kettlewell’s blind loyalty to certain players like Robinson and playing Miller out of position for most of the game again is what cost us today.

Not at the game today, but I agree we’re asking players to perform roles they’re not suited to. Robinson is a prime example. He‘s just not performing in my view. We don’t seem to have a striker who can play up front on his own. Time to change the system. Also our defensive midfield is too lightweight.

Given Aberdeen’s form’ not the worst result but the performance seems to have been lacklustre. Changes needed for next week.

Thought it was a poor first half today.

Our defence looked shakey from the off without coughing up too many chances.

Just couldnt keep hold of the ball at all and as such offered nothing going forward.

Our problem is definitely in midfield. Halliday and Davor together are just too slow against better sides. We cant continue to play Miller out of position when we have multiple options up top to allow him to play where he is most effective.

We looked much better second half especially when Watt & Tavares came on.

I thought we might have sneaked a point at the end, Moses has a great chance and Mitov makes 2 very good saves.

We may have deserved it on chances created but probably not on balance of play.

SK has some big decisions to make on Friday night. He needs to be bold and show he has the bottle to make them.

Moses is a penalty box striker no more no less. If he starts, it needs to be part of a front 2. Yes, the balance in midfield is all wrong. We need a solid out and out defensive midfielder.

Did Ryan Jack go to Turkey? 🤔

We signed Moses Ebiye in March this year. Since then he’s played 9 times (3 starts and 6 as sub) and scored 4 goals. Seems to have a knack for scoring goals so why does Kettlewell not start him in games?

He’s not compatible with SK’s preferred system of playing a single, often isolated, striker. He’s a penalty box striker.

The lone, isolated striker thing just does not work for us. No matter who that striker is. For all his effort yesterday, and the good things he did 30 yards out, Robinson was a let down anywhere near goal.

Kettlewell needs to look at a formation that starts Moses supported by Vale. Would also let Miller play that bit deeper which suits him better. The difference at Pittodrie yesterday was there for all to see. Tavares could have earned a start as well, although Maswanhise might feel a bit aggrieved.

That last 25 minutes certainly should have given Kettlewell food for thought. Amazing what can be achieved when we put our opponents under pressure rather than letting them dictate play as was the case for 60 odd minutes.

The option to rotate Tavares with Maswanhise should be to our benefit. And I very much agree with starting Moses supported by Vale.

As mentioned by other posters that requires SK to change his preferred starting formation, which I think most fans are putting forward. We just look much better team when we move away from lone striker.

Yes, but as usual, Kettlewell is always the last to realise a good idea.

It's unbelievable that we have a quality centre mid and Kettlewell refuses to play him there……

A few folk keep talking about this but I seen a PLZ interview with his dad during the week where he said LM was getting played in his more familiar role this season, so it’s possible the manager is playing him in his correct - or should I say HIS preferred - position and playing other in positions to accommodate him.
Not really something a manager should do but when your trying to get him to extend his contract then maybe you have to be flexible and play him where he wants to play.
Im sure many - possibly even you :) - would be slating SK and the club if his contract ran down and he left for a development fee.

I watched that interview. Im sure he said he was learning a slightly different role than he was used to.

Happy to be corrected though.

Maybe I got it wrong, I’d need to watch it again but I thought it was last season he was in a different role and this season he was back into the position he played in the academy.

Thanks Kmcalpin. Yes I get that I just don’t agree with it. IMO we should always play with 2 strikers home and away.
