Friday night is our biggest game of the season so far. A big game at home under the lights with a chance to get to a cup semi final at Hampden and the additional revenue that comes with that.

We cant afford to be messing about.

Our best 11 in their best positions from the off. Lets get at United, put them under pressure and play on the front foot.

We are a much better team when we do that. Assuming Watt cant play, Id go with the following.......

                                 Ox

              McGinn Gordon Casey

SOD                                            Wilson

                    Miller  Davor

           Vale     Moses     Robinson

Id keep Maswanhise as an impact player from the bench. He has been more effective from there later in games than he has been from the start.

Tavares for Robinson would be my choice. The latter has done nothing to keep his place and the former deserves a chance to impress on the wing from the start. I’d also put Vale into the hole just behind Moses.

Id forgotten about Tavares.

I need to get myself a squad list so I dont forget everyone we have signed!

Of course SK will stick with Robinson thru the middle and doesnt seem minded to drop any of his "leadership group" which I presume is why Halliday keeps getting picked. So it will probably be same again with some minor tweaks up top.

If he plays Miller out of position again it should be a sackable offence.

If Kettlewell does continue to do so, which is ridiculous given the other options we now have, he’s single-handedly doing his best to stifle Miller’s development in his best position and potentially impact his financial value to the club. It’s nothing other than idiotic, but I bet he thinks he’s being clever in continuing to try this crap.

i've not been his biggest fan but Halliday is getting picked just now because he is playing well.

The one that needs binned is Robinson with Vale, Ebiye and Tavares starting on Friday. With Davor missing out. Allowing Miller to play in his best position. All three of those substitutes were the reason we nearly grabbed a point yesterday. Vale driving forward made a huge difference. But I fear Kettlewell will again start Robinson despite him being terrible anywhere near goal. Might be a confidence thing but we cannot wait forever on him finding the net.

I think Kettlewell has got this well Bair came good so I am just going to stick with Robinson until he does the same it's beginning to boil ma piss a bit also Miller out of position isn't working either it's an utter waste.

Why is Davor missing?

I agree that Halliday has been much better the last few weeks, but it was a low bar and him and Davor in there together just arent physical or mobile enough.

No issues if its Halliday and Miller or Davor and Miller.

I agree that we shouldnt persevere with Robinson as a loan striker. Either give him some support thru the middle or play him wider in a 3 (or not at all, although that would be harsh given how isolated he has been on his own).

For me it is a close call between Halliday and Davor. And at the start of the season I would have opted for Davor given how rank Halliday was last season. But in recent weeks I think Halliday has moved ahead and his experience and ability to wind up opponents helps his case. I'm in no way getting at Davor but to include Vale given how he has improved the team when coming on as a sub, somebody needs to miss out.  But Davor's energy replacing a tired Halliday after 65/70 minutes would be no bad thing. Hopefully with us ahead in the game and looking to stay that way.

I think most agree that an isolated Robinson ( or any isolated striker) is not the way to approach the game on Friday. Also our set up is becoming too predictable. Aberdeen exposed that in the first half. But I am not convinced Kettlewell will see it that way.

Robinson only managed 3 passes in 58 minutes yesterday. In Perth it was 4 passes in 45 minutes.

He's beyond rank and needs dropped.

His tactical ineptitude has been exposed on numerous occasions during his tenure and I am yet to see him progress/develop in any way as a manager with us.

Would you have preferred if I suggested that Vale should play in the space created by Moses?!

Yes if you like , but not as funny as the hole in Moses behind

You didn't notice when he quickly sussed out Kevin van Veen was more effective in a front 2?

15 games. Zero wins.

69 games 20 Losses, or so Wikipedia says. I can't be bothered checking.

Stats can be used in lots of ways.

I agree SK can stubbornly stick to his guns and it drives me crazy. But harping back to that poor run last year proves nothing other than you have nothing more recent to cast up. He is doing just fine for now. Guess that's why his contract was extended.

If you think I’ve nothing more recent to cast up, then you haven’t been reading my posts. The guy isn’t a good manager and we’ll not move forward under him.

Him surviving that run of zero wins in 15 means the bar has been set very low for him, and that’s likely why a few victories have triggered a contract renewal.

Popping out from my hiatus to add some pedantry...

It wasn't extended; it was changed to be a "rolling" contract, so it's actually protecting the Club and makes getting rid of him easier as we won't have X years cash to pay him...

Correct. This fact gets in the way of the arguments put forward by some of the Kettlewell apologists.

Enjoy your hiatus. I assume fatherhood has also arrived for you.

It has, 6 weeks old today.

It feels like 6 months and simultaneously 6 weeks and 6 days and 6 hours and 6 minutes and 6 seconds
