As the author I'm breaking my self imposed exile in the aftermath of Madwullie and Andy Patterson's passing. I didn't feel the need to do so when canvassing for votes in the recent WS election.

The grand entrance that, regardless of content, rarely ends well

It has saddened me to read how the thread has seemingly been hijacked for almost half it's content by talk of current bus routes in 2024 for a project that would not, even if given a green light, be a thing until the 2030's. Talk about running before you are even walking.

Losing the crowd - reel it back in...

If you're looking at a move as how will it affect you personally opposed rather than how will it affect the club we collectively support then not only is it a bit short sighted but a little bit selfish.

Re-engage, don't alienate!!

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Exile reimposed.

and make sure everyone knows you're leaving the ignorant plebs behind.

For the record, I actually enjoyed hearing about your ideas, but a C- for interacting with the discussion.

I said what I felt about the Ravenscraig move - and it wasn't a pop at anyone - I don't think I needed to have my posts counted up or my name put on here -apparently if you don't align with some peoples views you are binned off - well no fucks given on my part.

I was sent a dm message a few months ago from someone on pie and bov saying that my posts on here about Erik didn't align with the majority and as far as I'm concerned that's all shades of creepy - people watching and analysing everything I say on here.

And if people can't disagree on here -pointless. I've been watching Motherwell longer than some people who've been sending me snotty messages have been alive - I don't think I need to justify myself about how much I love my club.

If some people just want people to blow smoke up their backsides -that's on them - and I won't be hung out to dry on it on any level

Okay let's park the bus issue to one side (no pun intended) but the reality is there is absolutely f*** all in Ravenscraig at the moment to run a bus to. There is no commercial value in transport links at the moment. However if selecting a site out of what is the largest single brownfield site in Scotland, I doubt one right slap in the middle would be the choice (like where the council dropped the sports centre).

If I'm not mistaken there are plans for the road by Dalzell or suchlike to serve as another route into the craig. I think the idea that the place is far away is based on the idea we would all need to March down and under the railway bridge. But if the new road is put in place (which it will be I believe) it is pretty much just an extension of that part of the town. Now having never lived in Motherwell personally may impact my view but I feel like Ravenscraig is very much Motherwell and part of the towns, albeit historical, identity. I'm sure some genuine locals will disagree with me though.

The area next to the college once opened up by the new road is going to make very little difference in terms of is proximity to where anyone has a few jars pre match, or add any more than a few minutes to that post match job down to Airbles station.

Once I win euro millions ill build us a new stadium and training campus in return for a space on the board  👌 😂

Elsewhere the Dundee model is being discussed and as much as I don't particularly have any love for them I think if that happens it looks massively positive for the future of the game with the whole masterplan.

It's hard to take of any the council proposals seriously when the only concrete plan that is actually happening is turning Airbles Road into a bypass for HGVs. They used Ravenscraig as an excuse to run down Motherwell town centre, being cynical i'd say any plans for new amenities are basically deflection from the reality that they are going to run 1000 lorries a day in and out of the new rail freight hub.

The rail freight hub plan was rejected by Scottish Government planning, with no appeal submitted as far as I know

Cheers. I missed that last October when I was housebound for a while.

Good news it was a crazy idea that would have ruined half the town.

There’s a consultation out just now about remediating a large proportion of the untouched land to make it brownfield site.

There is also further retail units been mentioned more recently.

I wonder what the long term plans are for Knowetop Primary.

The councils are offloading buildings and land all over Scotland as  budget cuts take effect.

If(and its a big if) the land it sits on were to become available at some point in the future would that be a viable proposition to build a new main stand there and effectively move the Hunter Stand to where the O'Donnell  stand is just now.

Probably not feasible or practical logistically or even affordable but could be something worth thinking  about as a possibility in the long term should a move to Ravenscraig be ruled out completely.

Probably not feasible or practical……

Previously thought about the school and two options that I thought of were shear fantasies but

1. if the school site was available (and cash available in some form) then turn the park 90 degrees, extend or rebuild the Cooper stand making it the new main or Hunter stand with the other opposite, where the POD is would then be the  Cooper for home supporters and finally the away stand at Dazell drive end.

2. New POD and Hunter stands of similar size to the Cooper and joining all 3 together. Due to the lack of depth of the Hunter, would it be possible to have the rear top of the stand overhang the carpark of the school? Would also lose one of the Astro parks as well.
In front of the houses at the POD proper disabled facilities with a media centre above it, which shouldn’t be high enough to block planning.

A lot more interesting and radical than my effort.

I think the main barriers to redeveloping FP would be the cost  and the massive upheaval and disruption to games possibly requiring ground sharing somewhere for 1/2 seasons while any building work is carried out unless it could be done in such a way we were able to continue to  play at FP and maintain revenue streams.

Dont think it'll happen in my lifetime but it's interesting to speculate and gives us something else to argue/talk about.

I also don’t think it’ll happen in the lifetime of Caldwell, and therein lies a problem. However, and more realistically, I think a 20-year strategic plan with an options appraisal needs to be produced, and that would be outwith his day-to-day remit.
