Orinoco
Great 3 points given we were very poor 2nd half. Ref and VAR got Saints back into the game and killed any attacking threat we had. Sitting deep and letting Saints pass it about like Barcelona is not my idea of entertainment. Seddon, sparrow and kaleta were the stand outs. Halliday is completely done. He was blowing out his arse after 20 mins. Get him a half season ticket for Ibrox, a Celtic one for Fat Tony and a wee Saturday job somewhere for Davor and we'll be looking a lot better going forward. 1
Ya Bezzer!
Motherwell love to make a 2-0 lead hard work! It's never been any other way! 🤣 First half there were times when it looked like we could rack up our highest win of the season. St Johnstone were so slack in their passing and we looked dangerous going forward. Thought Kaleta and Maswanhise caused them a lot of problems and gave us the out ball we've lacked when they've not been selected. Second half we just turn off a bit and St Johnstone got better. Unfortunate penalty, one of those ones where it's pretty soft but it's always going to be given when the player brings his hand towards the ball, or at least that's how I saw it in real time. After that it was the standard nervy last 20 minutes that we've all seen a thousand times before. Finally VAR did us a favour. Good 3 points, could have been better in the second half. And Davor missing that sitter at the end, yikes. Good to see Paton back. For me he's a McGinn-esque player. Decent, gives you 100% every week. 1
Mootherwell86
Great result. Thought we played very well for majority of the game. Same as last week though, I thought we struggled when the subs came on.
FirParkCornerExile
Only saw the second half and that was brutal. Play in possession is shocking. Midfield posted missing. Only positive from what I saw was 3 points.

Take the win move on but the manager needs to up his game

Between the manager who is Steve Clarke with a barnet, the fact we have no decent strikers and have to play Halliday and Davor in midfield then there's not much chance of seeing much football. 34% at home to St Johnstone is criminal. It feels a bit like McCall's last full season where we were dire but still managed to finish second on pure grit.

santheman
For all the posession St Johnstone had I didn't think they even remotely looked like scoring and if they hadn't got the penalty that game would probably have finished 2 0 without the nervy ending. In saying that you can't give up that much territory and possession especially at home. Good to see Paton back at least it gives us another option. Another poor referee display with some utterly baffling decisions. Still it's 3 points.

Possestion stats are irrelevant, it's goals that count you could have 5% possession but if you score more than the other team you get the points, so lighten up, enjoy another victory and gies peace. 3
Big Wispy Flossy
Conceding 2/3 possession at home to st Johnstone is utterly horrific. Midfield is not good frankly. that being said a good, if not a deserved, 3 points. some positives - TJ and kaleta continue to impress and seddon was good today
Big Wispy Flossy
Ps Tony watt is no better than Zach Robinson (the lowest of low bars)
texanwellfan
Good to see Paton back. Good to see some of the new players putting in good performances and improving. Good to see Wilson established a first team regular and then of course, just good to see Miller strut his stuff. Plus we have a keeper who looks safe and confident. So lots of positives. I think we are now reaching the stage where the players we have are not suited to the style/tactics employed by SK. We have Watt, Stam,Moses,RobinsonHalliday not suited to be closing down bodies and chasing hopeful (hopeless?) long balls. With Nicholson and Slattery still to come back I think we are approaching the point where SK will have no choice but to play a more attacking formation against most teams. Credit to everyone for grinding out games and putting points on the board up to now. However, I think we could win games “easier” and with a more enjoyable style utilizing the players we have, in a more attacking style which will get more out of the players we have. Welly Machine
Great to get a win before the international break. Good first half after a slow start and a couple of well worked and well taken goals. Flat second half and again subs didn't make much of an impact. Have to hope we can make changes that make a difference when the injury situation improves. Thought we defended pretty well for the majority of the game.
David
When I got back into the house after the game, I thought I had dreamt that we'd won 2-1. With the response of some in this thread you'd think we hadn't just won again, weren't sitting in 5th with a game in hand over the team in 4th, and two games in hand over the team in 3rd, and a nice wee cushion of seven points and a game in hand over the team in 7th. All accomplished while we've been missing numerous new signings, our captain, and our co-captain. What's mental is, that we've done all of the above without playing all that well.
