When has any Motherwell side ever 'had a go' against Celtic or Rangers? Having a go at Kettlewell over it on the back of a game at Parkhead against an invincible Celtic side seems really strange to me.

Even the other day St Mirren at home to Rangers they had just 25% possession and 3 shots on target. Personally I'd much rather 'sit in' and give ourselves a chance of getting something rather than leaving ourselves exposed and getting humiliated.

And there you have it. Pretty much we all think (based on historical data) we are going to get beat. Seems like we are maybe 50/50 on which way to achieve that defeat. Have a go or park the bus. Take your pick but appreciate SK’s dilemma, whichever way he picks, half the support are on his back.

The 2 playoff games in 2015, the league cup semi in 2017, granted against weaker Rangers teams than they have now, but it can be done. Sitting back and letting rhem come on to us, hoping to keep them out only ever ends in defeat.

Rangers are fragile at the back get right into them from the start and we have a chance.

Id rather get beat 3-0 having a go as 3-0 just waiting for the inevitible. Of course there is a halfway house where if we get our defensive set up right and play on the break we can hurt them. But that requires Maswanhise and Kaleta both to play and be seviced appropriately. They are the only 2 in the team with the genuine pace to hurt Rangers. Get them into good areas with Stama in the middle and we can nick a goal or two.

The possession stats mean little on their own. Its where the opposition have it that matters. The problem is that when we cede possession we're virtually camped in our own penalty box. Ok you might say, but even then we gift time and and space to allow opponents the chance to get a shot or header on target. The Ox has had to make the highest number of saves of any keeper in the Premiership. Thats the problem. Thats whats not getting sorted.

They have plenty defensive worries at the moment and it sounds like they will be having to field a duo of Propper who has failed to set the heather on fire and a right back (Sterling) as a centre back partnership complimented by Tavernier who can't defend and Jefte, with that being said you just know we won't get a sniff. Gordon and Stama have been dealing with knocks with the latter possibly missing out entirely. Any points would be most welcome but like MJC mentioned above, seldom do they lose twice on the bounce domestically then to add to that they have Celtic which they will likely lose.

It's a balancing act, not one or the other.

This might not be a prime Rangers team but they are significantly better than us in every area of the pitch.

We struggle to defend against much lesser teams, leaving ourselves open at the back is simply suicide.

On the other hand you have to present some threat going forward and take your chances when they come.

As for Rangers being 'fragile at the back', they have played 8 European level matches this season and only conceded more than 1 goal twice.  Domestically they have kept 5 clean sheets in the last 7 league matches and only conceded 3 goals, one of which was a penalty from a "whit's the goalie doin" moment.

I don't think they are actually that bad at the back and as I said after the semi final I thought they were pretty decent off the ball in terms of pressing, aerial duels and all that stuff.
