Hearts V Motherwell 2/1/2025

Need to see the goal again but taking one part in isolation, I thought a Hearts player holds and tugs Ox’s arm for a bit which the referee disallows the goal for, then VAR gets him to review it and he changes the decision- possibly correctly - but put this beside the Butland one last week and it’s yet another inconsistency that goes against us which has cost points and for one of them we should get another apology - maybe the SFA should look at awarding teams 3 points for every 5 apologies ;)

The boy masa has got ability, not sure he wants to put in the graft yho

He has but hes not as good as some Motherwell fans think he is. Ball control goes from brilliant to woeful. First touch likewise. That touch from the great cross ball that landed at his feet in the 18 yard box in the first half was a shocker.

Not just today but kettlewell is happy with a point before a ball is kicked and has little intention of going for three and then has zero answers when things go wrong,we often hear of no plan b but what exactly is plan a ?.there is not one area of the team that is remotely functioning at a competent level, were back to conceding piss poor goals on a weekly basis, miller aside you couldn't make a decent midfield out of the rest of them, nothing has clicked up front as it's just a mish mash of options.that was dreadful today and certainly not worth getting out my sick bed to go and watch.

Its all too easy to write today off as a bad day as the office and attribute it to injuries/flu virus whatever. However this is the latest in a long series of stinking results including Hibs and Dundee, and thats not taking into account stinking performances. It might be different if we were playing good football , but we aren't. SK won't be fired now but he won't last indefinitely if this trend continues

There was nothing wrong with Hearts goal, Oxborough made a complete mess of it, came to claim it from the corner and missed, then tried again and flapped at it again getting nowhere near the ball before it dropped to the Hearts player.

That was absolutely awful today. Right up there with the Hibs game for absolute lack of any quality on the ball.

Not sure if Kaleta was 100% fit or not, but SOD is coming back from injury as well and had a terrible game.

His decision to play the ball which led to the corner for their goal is really poor and of course it was exacerbated by another blunder from Ox. Absolutely nothing wrong with the goal. On this occasion VAR gets it right and the referee corrects his original mistake.

No doubt, we needed subs made at half time, but yet again the subs SK chose to make were wrong imho and did not improve things one iota.

Dont want to lurch into another kneejerk reaction after another single defeat, but its the same mistakes all the time and its so predictable.

I get that theres illness in the squad and I get that we have a lot of players in varying degrees of fitness, but I refuse to believe there wasnt a better way to set the team up today.

Just telling the wing backs to push further up the park to support the midfield and stop them being overun would have been a start. Otherwise whats the point of playing 3 at the back?

Really bad day at the office again and the pack have started to gather behind us again.

We really need a win against Aberdeen or Kilmarnock to give us a boost going into the next run of games!

Not disagreeing with the decision more the VAR/referee’s decisions in general and the potential loss of points, apologies doesn’t improve our league position.
*before anyone says anything I’m not seriously advocating apologies should become points - although if they did we’d be stick ons for Europe ;)

What really annoys me is that when we do go out and have a go at teams we've been relatively successful, Dundee Utd and Rangers being the recent prime examples so we can do it when we have a mind to.

Were obviously going to be more defensively minded away from home but we should still be able to put in better away performances than we have.

In my mind we seem to do better against teams who are more attack minded and come at us, rather than teams who pack their half and wait for a break, leaving gaps and spaces for us to exploit but against Hearts we didn’t manage anything of note (until they started getting nervous at the end) due to our inability to pass or hold the ball. Balls forward were nothing but punts and I’m really starting to think that the players have a competition each week to see who can get the greatest height on a pass as most go sky high with no distance which pisses me off, try getting the ball past the defenders and get someone running on to it! - and don’t get me started on Ox collecting the ball then waiting for them to get back before distributing it!!!
If we are to trouble Aberdeen - or any team - we will need to start putting pressure on them with quick balls forward.
