I shall be honest I just can't get on board with this if it happens just seems like more of the same what we have been served up. Feels like if you are interested in a shot at managing us you just need to take any coaching role going then wait your turn.

Liverpool built a dynasty using that approach. With no insight whatsoever, I suspect it will be a new face. Frail always strikes me as someone who much prefers assistant roles or coaching roles to being the man in charge. (So you can expect the "Frail signs for 3 more years" announcement in a couple of hours)

I am too much of a maverick a forward thinker to to even be considered for the Motherwell role plus I would embrace getting called every name under the sun as a compliment. I don't wish to make any further comment at this time thank you.

It's been less than two weeks. If they found the right man on day 1 it could easily take 2 weeks for lawyers, agents, managers and the candidate to hammer out the contractual details. Erskine Alpha
The silence on this is frustrating, if it’s frail until the end of the season then fine we deal with it if not then clue us in on any info
fizoxy
We have been a lot less leaky with stuff recently. I'd see that as a good thing. Not sure what info the club is going to put out other than that we're reviewing/interviewing candidates. Pretty sure it takes a few weeks usually. The initial names that came out would have been from those guys' agents, making sure the names were out there while people were paying attention. Also, the Scottish sports media will be focusing on other more sensational things right now to be hounding our dinner lady to find out who's been stopping by.

I may be dreaming - A couple of points to challenge your foregone conclusion. 1) Does Frail want the role ? It's not been obvious if he does. 2) It would have been easier to announce that by now. He may get the gig short term I'm struggling as it's not often that managers leave at the end of the season, that's more a players contract. Think it's more probable the club didn't see this coming and it takes time to run a recruitment process and get the right hire - which is a bit boring for us fans but reasonable none the less. AllyMax
I see from the BBC that St Mirren are having an 'unforgettable' season. Shame we're having a totally shite disaster of a season with relegation looming. If only we were up there with them. Hopefully the new manager can get us up the league to compete with the likes of them.

Portugal next month for Mrs G and I then hopefully somewhere else later in year. andalg
Should the title of the thread be updated to "Our new manager who do we want and when do we want him ?" Longest search ever. What's the betting we find the answer is the equivalent of "down the back of the couch" with Stevie Frail
Richie
Dubrovnik in July and possibly Legoland or Disneyland Paris. Also the annual pilgrimage to Ibiza in Sep again most likely. Off to Arran for a week in Apr as well.

fizoxy
Without the numbers in front of me, 3 weeks seems to be about normal for new appointments, with some taking longer. The surprise nature of SKs departure, and the CEO reportedly mourning the loss of a close family member not long after, probably slows things down too. If we are still interviewing, I'd guess we're at least a week away, but we've been less leaky since Caldwell came in (or others left), so who knows? We're not guaranteed to get this appointment spot on, but at least we're doing our due diligence to get close. We're still in a relatively good position, with decent points on the board and our better players coming back from the dead (I'm sure someone is crocking themselves as I write this), and woth the new appointment getting the checkbook for a rebuild I'm the summer, we need to take our time and be careful. I'm not going on holiday, don't want to risk not being allowed back in. 1
weeyin
I'm involved in recruiting at the moment. While I'm not a football club, we always estimate about 3 months from start to finish to get someone in. Less if we hire someone currently out of work.

It’s not obvious either way however I tend to think that if he really didn’t want it then he wouldn’t be doing it atall and would probably have left with Kettlewell. I suspect that timing is the factor here. Frail has only had one game so far - against Celtic which inevitability ended in defeat so he can’t really be judged on that. If we win on Saturday and pick up something at Tannadice the following week then it’ll be easier for them to sell the appointment of Frail to the fans just like they did with Kettlewell and Hammell before him. If you think back Hammell got the job on a ‘temporary’ basis, we beat St.Mirren and he was given the job on a permanent basis a few days later. Same with Kettlewell, placed on interim charge, won two games against St.Mirren and Hearts and officially appointed within days. I don’t see things being any different this time around and Stephen Frail is three, maybe four points away from a permanent appointment imo. Frail is doing the job because he wants to continue being paid. Unless he had another job to go to he would be off his head to do otherwise. Secondly, even if he doesnt want the job, the new guy might not want to bring in their own backroom team, so he might get to stay on. Thirdly, he will feel a loyalty to the players. Someone has to take the team until there is a new appointment and he is the one best placed to do it. Otherwise you are down to Clarkson, Foster and Obika taking the team. Hammell and Kettlewell were both appointed by the previous board who had clearly ran out of ideas / enthusiasm for the role as can be seen by many of the other decisions taken around that time. Given that most of us roundly supported the WS flexing their muscles to chase Barmack and become more hands on in their approach, and roundly welcomed the new appointments to the board, I think its a bit churlish to suggest that they will fall at the first hurdle and take the easy option. Previously, we had sacked managers and had to pay the severance that goes with that. We didnt have a lot of money to throw at a new manager as we were still paying off the previous two. Thats no longer the case and SK walked so presumably didnt get a pay off. It stands to reason we are in much better shape this time around (still sitting top 6) to take our time and get the right appointment. Thats not to say Frail shouldnt be considered if he wants to be. But there is absolutely no reason to think he is a shoe in because of past appointments.
Kmcalpin
It might be more realistic to think that the Dundee or even the St Mirren games would be achievable for having a new manager in place.
joewarkfanclub
Re Holidays. Given Im such a happy clapper, I will obviously be going somewhere very sunny with all inclusive drinks, great restaurants and absolutely banging live entertainment in the evenings. Should the holiday fall short of my expectations, I will of course try to see the positive in the situation and cite mitigation for all the holiday companies shortcomings! 😉😉😉
