Hopefully the new guy can get a bounce and win at least the three games required to keep us safe. Yeah but really is that what we strive for, a new manager bounce every 18 months, to keep what is basically a crap squad from going down. The very fact this scenario is now in it 3rd or 4th iteration tells you all you need to know about the squads we have assembled

Is it an ideal situation? Nope, but you can only play the hand you're dealt. And I know we've dealt ourselves the shite hand we have.. Right appointment hopefully negates a total rebuild in 12-18 months...
Orinoco
For once the whole process has been kept private. As it should be. Hopefully the new guy unites everybody at the club and we move forward as one.

A few folk have mentioned McCall being one of the last decent managers we had 10 years ago. just comparing some of the squad from then to now (on McCalls last season when the wheels came off) Lee Hollis, Steve McManus, Shaun Hutchinson, Simon Ramsden, ZFA, Stevie Hammell, Chris Cadden, Keith Lasley, Faddy, Lee Erwin, John Sutton, Lional Ainsworth. Majority would breeze into our starting 11. We're probably not that different but it was clear we had 1) better quality 2) several players who came through the youth team 3) 22/30 from the squad were Scotts now 1) quality lacking 2) Miller & Wilson from youth team 3) 10/30 are Scotts. Majority now from England. Overall I feel we've really lost our way, the model of brining in journeyman from all over has lost our identity. We were always known for being a little bit amateurish but had plenty of folk around who cared. The core of players I'd question how many really care about the club. Same for some of the senior roles. In addition to appointing a new manager we need a long hard look at our strategy and getting back to our core. I know people often joke about having Van Der Gage, Nijholt, McFadden, Craigan, Lasley etc all back but at least they gave a damn. Good post. grizzlyg
Whoever it is they need time to assess squad and rebuild. Only 12 players still in contract next season so we can clear out the loanees and those we shouldn't be offering new deals to. And give new manager a chance. Hopefully a new manager will give their confidence a boost. I don't get why Casey was on the bench yesterday. OK, I now he's not our saviour, but if he's really really upset Frail & Kettlewell then just drop him altogther. If he was on the bench then he must have been in Frail's plans. The players' off the ball work rate also needs to be upped somewhat. Casey should be starting. Has his flaws but for my money, is a starter in our team. I understand trying to keep discipline among the players but not at the expense of being relegated.
texanwellfan
We have a squad capable of finishing in top 6 but unfortunately decimated by injuries and hampered by tactics. From a possible starting 11 (shown below) we have Ox, McGinn, Seddon and Stam out and Kaletta been carrying an injury while playing and now out. The sooner Ox gets back the better. I think McGinn replacement has to be Balmer. Sparrow can replace Kaletta or perhaps Seddon but midfield is where it might make or break us. The new manager will have to quickly work out the best formation and combination of players to make us harder to beat but create more chances and support for attack. Forwards we have plenty but which ones will work the best???? New guy Armstrong looks decent but we haven’t given him many chances to see if he can score regularly. Maswanhise is unpredictable but probably worth starting to see if it’s a good day or bad day. No point on bringing him on as a sub to find out it’s a bad day. if the new manager is worth his salt he should be able to take what we have and at least keep us up. Ox McGinn Gordon Casey Kaletta Nicholson Slattery Miller Seddon Maswanhise Stam
robsterwood
Whole structure of club has to change. We're run by amateurs in committees, voting on every micro decisions. Need to change model and get investment if any out there. Otherwise we will continue to get disjointed inappropriate recruitment on playing side not matching to coaching side. Other clubs of similar size are surpassing us. Now down to 8th for now and every team below us looks better.

fizoxy
Could just be speculation based on the pic from the main stand, along with the mention in the media that the new guy is foreign, then the German link with the chairman. A search for baldy German unemployed managers on transfermarket brings up a couple.of guys, Lieberknecht being one of them. He looks like he has a decent record of promoting a couple of teams to the Bundesliga, and relegating them back. I'll enjoy the speculation for now until reality hits tomorrow.
