The Caldwell clip about SK abuse

A very strange address and I just don't know what to make of it. I was expecting some clarification to emphasise that it's only a small number of fans involved and then to move onto progress in filling the vacancy. In other words an attempt to mend bridges, limit damage, and move forward.

However that's not what we got. I now have more questions than answers. It's now seems that Stuart Kettlewell's issues may go back for some time and may be about more than just abuse from the stands. It seems odd therefore that Brian Caldwell didn't know about these issues until Monday. In short I don't know what took place but think he may have taken the right decision. I'm not sure either we should have been told some of the details about SK. Should they have remained confidential?  In any event I wish him well. Football management is a high pressure occupation.

I also found Brian Caldwell's morbid tone confusing. I get the upset this has caused the club and him personally, but thought his comment about agents and job applications a bit bizarre. Like it or not, as CEO,  it's his responsibility to take forward the application and selection process.  Its not nice, but a fact of life, that as soon as a manager leaves, irrespective of circumstances, there will be floods of applications.

I have heard this week a few of our fans being offended almost , and they  expecting the club to offer some kind of apology

Not me , anyone with any sense knows the majority of our fans are decent , but there are a few who would abuse any manager we have and want them out, not just the managers but players and if it is not in the stands then definetly social media .

Just have to look at Facebook on a Saturday night and see it is almost the highlight of some people’s weekend , after a win as well .

No this is not just at MFC , it happens everywhere

I'm starting to wonder about this guy. The club in general just feels flat. I know Burrows had his critics but under him you could see the club moving. The media effort was top notch, the club was appearing more professional, and absolute media meltdowns like this were avoided.

Given Caldwell's handling of this I dont think he will have a great deal of currency in the bank if he screws up the recruitment over the next few weeks.

Obviously never been to a junior game when fans threaten to batter their own players for being shite or windscreens being put in on cars, however he's talking apples and oranges, players can expect to be criticized for mistakes, no one will let Stevie Woods forget Rangers, he's not going to change football culture overnight, Motherwell/any fans won't change their tune towards perceived mediocrity or pish tactics radically because SK resigned.

A very good point was made in the Facebook post last night about the amount of abuse Kettlewell dished out to the ref/linesman/4th officals resulting in his numerous red cards. A bit two faced of him if you ask me. This is just a total mess and Caldwell has done us no favours at all.

And in doing so has also done himself no favours at all.

I think we’ll see the new Chairman address things, hopefully in a much more diplomatic way, to try to smooth things over.
