In a high press (using Liverpool as a top example) the wingbacks are expected to cover defensive, midfield and attacking duties.

The distances guys like Robertson and Alexander-Arnold cover is insasne.

They play in a 4......

Just saw the clip of him arriving and meeting the staff and team. Fair play to Frail who stayed and conducted all the introductions. He didn’t have to do that considering he resigned today. A Top guy who deserves a bit of credit, good luck wherever he ends up, he’s conducted himself impeccably after being dumped on by SK.

looking forward to see how the manager does, it’s a bit of a risky one but at least at the moment we have all the fans behind him instead of a % of us not wanting him due to a potential old firm bias or us having a football dinosaur or journeyman in charge of us.
In Wimmer we trust (for the moment 🤣)

In name only when Klopp was in charge.

Its far easier to cover with 3 at the back.

Whatever full back pushes on is covered by the remaining 4 defenders who just slide across giving you security.

Regardless, Sparrow and Thompson both have good engines on them. Their insteuctions just need to be clearer.

We do need to get the ball played wide much quicker though.

Small tactical and positional tweaks can make a huge difference.

As does confidence.......

Kettlewell got plenty of praise during that period when he steadied the ship and got us clear of relegation,  credit when it was due.

Your correct grizzly

but ffs when did it come into his heed to start playing all his barmy formations and giving the oposition the ball  to play with while we stepped off them

when he took over we were up and in about teams thats how we got points on the table

anyway feck him heez old news but i am counting the days till he pops up on BBC radio scotland spounting 💩

I also forgot Celtic radio aka Clyde 1

I miss the days of Richard "that set the pigeons on fire" Park and Jimmy "were you at the game caller" Sanderson.

My other Richard Park favourite was "the ship's come off the rails"

Risky appointment but everyone comes with a unmitigated level of risk in our predicament.

Whilst time is against us, it could take months to implement his ideas and not sure what the short term survival strategy is likely to be.

fingers crossed he gets the team in shape and the fans back enjoying going to the games pretty quickly

It’s certainly an interesting appointment and surprisingly out of the box for us. He’s got some job on his hands with this squad of mediocre guff and trying to keep us in the league so he needs to hit the ground running and we need to start getting points on the board asap otherwise the playoffs become a distinct possibility.

But you said " it's gonna be frail" ....

I understand the sense of optimism attached to a completely fresh approach that a foreign management team suggests. However, the level of risk taken with this appointment in our current predicament surprises me. Personally,  I’d have been more comfortable appointing someone of Wimmer’s profile in the summer or had we 4-6 more points on the board. As it stands though, we’re in relegation form with one of the most bloated squads around which will bring many challenges to someone that has limited experience of man-management, whilst being new to Scottish/British dressing room culture.

I sense we’ll quickly work out whether the risks taken by our new Chairman and Board were well measured. My heart will sink a little if he quickly tells us we don’t have the players to play his high intensity pressing style (the style that all managers promise….).

That aside, good luck to Wimmer. Hopefully my gut instinct is a mile out and we are genuinely going to have fun.

Finally, fair play to Frail. He’s handled things in a very dignified manner.

People talk about a bloated squad as if we had 30 fit players to choose from every week.

In reality we've been struggling to fill the bench many weeks, and have to start whoever can walk over who's best.

Plenty will be moving on in the summer, but we needed the head count to get us through the worst of the injury problems.

I’d disagree. We have a bench of 9. Despite the known injuries, none of Blaney, Koutroumbis, Dickson, Moses or Tavares made the squad of 20 on Saturday.
