Wimmer gives me the fear. No idea of Scottish football and is only familiar with English football. Talking of press and energy, things that any manager would say. Only a gradual introduction to his ideas when we need a quick change.God I hope I am so wrong.

Stuart Kettlewell and Stevie Hammel knew plenty about Scottish football , doesnt mean they are good. Any change of manager is a risk. However Wimmers appointment is no more risky than anyone else.

That’s a fair take and you’ll not be the only one thinking this.

Only time will tell if this is going to work for us but with the squad he inherits he is up against it straight away.

The only thing I would say is that I didn’t see any other appointment that we could have made that would have given us any more reason to be optimistic at this point. I genuinely thought we would have handed the job to Stephen Frail at least until the end of the season in keeping with our usual lazy approach (and yes, new board etc).

So it’s going to be a tough few months and if Wimmer is to succeed with us then he has to keep us in the league.

Alexander was the same.  I think this is a good appointment

Least he's good at something I suppose.

We support them all to get out of this mess. Every player and the manager - and we don't scapegoat players either. Did people think SOD was a bad player when he played out of his skin for Scotland? Time to give him a break. He's probably going to be gone by summer anyway

Yes, I did think he was rotten when he played for Scotland...I think he is genuinely one of the luckiest players ever to grace a Scotland top regularly

Four more caps than Davie cooper , that shows how much Scottish footballers have regressed over the years. Mind you if cooper was playing now that fud clarke wouldn't have picked him anyway .

You are very much in the minority , but you are entitled to your opinion.

In the minority of what? It's a very small number of fans who post on fans forums. I'll stand by what I said. We have plenty of poor players but SOD always seems to be singled out for flack

I don't think it helps either. The constant going in on a few players

What do I know eh

The man himself SOD has been interviewed ahead of the Dundee Utd game.

It is easy to read too much into things but he is normally very composed and assured when being interviewed and I got the sense that he was a little edgier in the interview and may be feeling a little out of his comfort zone at the moment. This is possibly very natural.

I think there is no doubt that the senior players SOD, Halliday and Watt are big personalities in that dressing room and may have been given significant say under the previous management team.

My personal opinion was that it was not an unreserved welcome with open arms to the new management team from him but admittedly he does have a tightrope to walk I suppose. Interesting times.

I just watched his interview and I thought it was really positive under the circumstances - he also said if he wasn't picked on Saturday so be it

This is kind of where I am. It's an interesting appointment, and I'd prefer we thought outside of the box, because that's our best chance of improving or finding value where orhers haven't. In an ideal world he's good enough that he gets poached by a bigger club after a couple of successful years.

It has its risks too, but most of us would have been very underwhelmed with a scottish football stalwart, and any known quantity would have been divisive based on all of the shouts in the new manager thread.

My preference was someone like Ryan Lowe, who reportedly priced himself out, but even then there's just as much risk with English managers.

I don't know what is so unique about scottish football that causes foreign managers to fail.  Progressive managers seem to struggle too, is the standard of player just that bad?

I hope this works out, but I dont expect us to immediately be world beaters. There's gains to be made in the short term just through building confidence and freshening things up, but he can't change the squad or fix injuries, or make SOD not shite, etc.

I went to my first game in 1979. You know sometimes it was easier back in the day when there wasn't social media :)

I still have fond memories of the old "Club Call" where that was the only way you could find out what was happening at the club.

Till my old man got the phone bill in😬
