Dundee United are on 40 points already.

16 clear of St Johnstone and 13 clear of Dundee.

Not saying they couldnt get dragged into the bottom 6, but its highly unlikely they will be in any danger.

Looking at the bottom half of the league table, as well as considering recent form and events, this game could not be any more of a six pointer. Anything less than a victory will only worsen the death spiral.

Six pointer

Goal Difference speaks volumes. Those in the bottom half  of the league range -8 to -22 with both Dundee and StJ having the worst. Conceding 60 and 53 goals respectively.

Given they've been so poor defensively I can't really see them being anywhere other than the bottom 2.

Selfishly as long we avoid 11th or 12th I don't really care who takes those spots.

Very encouraging last night. A 6 pointer and we won it with some style. Not getting carried away though as one swallow and all that. A real team effort and good to see the likes of Halliday and O'Donnell play well too.  I wasn't encouraged by the pre match line up but that proved to be unfounded and in the first half we played well on the ground with pace, passing and some nice football.  I thought Lennon Miller was at his best, and in a more advanced  role, although not 100% fit. Our Viking up front put in a real shift, although he's not a goalscorer.   The football on offer was exciting and the fans responded to that. We could have been out of sight by HT but it was what it was.  One point of concern was the ease that Dundee got down our flanks but that can be worked on. A high intensity first 45.

We were always going to run out of gas in the second period and Dundee changed their set up to some effect. We were under the cosh for a large part of the second half and it was no surprise that Dundee drew one back. As Weeyin says it will take the squad months to up fitness levels and MW will be well aware of that.  Perhaps our substitutions were a tad late but maybe that was more down to match officials. I thought Moses and Harry Paton did well when they entered the fray, with their fresh legs.  It speaks volumes for the team to come back and score the winner after losing a late goal.

Both sides claimed for penalties but neither was given, ours without even a VAR check. I thought Dan Casey's power of recovery was impressive not to say surprising after being out injured for a spell.

The fans rightly applauded the team afterwards and stayed on to show their support.  It just goes to show what a bit effort and positive attitude on the field can do. The atmosphere was far better last night than it has been for months.

Onwards and Upwards.

I thought Armstrong had a great 2nd half.  I did bottle it though as I was desperate to shout 'Use Your Force Luke' 🤣🤣

Dundee fans are far from happy today. I'll go against the flow and say right now  they are the poorest of the bottom 6 clubs. They also have a few injuries. Ross County are a far better side and St Johnstone are a very solid and workmanlike side.

What might save Dundee is Simon Murray,  I think he is a great player and if gets injured they are in deep you know what.

That was his 16th goal of the season last night; not too shabby.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. The good vibes were back on a midweek evening under the floodlights.

Last night proved to me yet again that confidence is such a massive part of the game. There are some decent players in that squad that have been playing with no confidence and last night showed that just a little bit of composure can make all the difference. As an example you could see SOD grow into the game and I have no doubt that he was feeding off the good will from the stands. Proof that shouting at players simply does not work.

A word for Dundee. I have seen far worse teams than them take results in the past.

There was a spell of 20 minutes in the second half where Dundee looked like a really tidy football team. Generally Motherwell stuck to the task well during that spell. The Motherwell reaction to the equaliser was great to see.

When you've been schooled to play a certain way for as long as this squad has been, it takes time to adjust to a different style and tbh I was expecting that to take a lot longer than it has. Early days but night and day from a few weeks ago and it can only improve as they get more sessions under their belts.

A joy to see guys playing with a smile on their faces for a change.

Makes you wonder if Kettlewell was as popular in the dressing room as he was being made out to be.

One thing to add, Moses isnt our best player or a starter, but...... that formation is ideal for him coming off the bench. The guy will run all day for us, harry defenders, make a nuisance of himself & weigh in with the odd goal. Finally we might actually use players to their strengths

I've not been a big fan of Moses, pigeon holing him as a penalty box striker end of. However I thought he looked a more complete player last night and caused Dundee considerable angst outside their box.  That said, he came on as a sub against a tiring and somewhat sub standard Dundee defence.

Do you think he looks as if he runs with a limp ?
theres just something about his running style

like craigan used to run and every 2/3 steps he would stubb his toe

emday else notice these wee things ?

or am a just para ??

Me and my mates always commented on running style. It's like he has a puppet master pulling strings to work his legs.    He put on great shift when he came on
