Jim Gannon is possibly the most obvious example of this. Baraclough also brought with him a portfolio of players he wanted to sign that included Louis Moult. I thought MW's interview was very interesting today. He admitted that he does not have the players to play the style he wants. Does he have a list of players that he does want to sign to play his style or does he ask Dawes to find him players with a certain skill set? I wonder sometimes if the obsession with data analysis comes at the expense of a managers natural feel for the game and for a good player. They are supposed to compliment each other
joewarkfanclub
Data analysis is obviously important. But it should only be part of the picture. We should still be having a scout getting eyes on anyone identified to see how they actually perform in the flesh. Maybe thats too labour intensive for the the world we now live in, but it doesnt feel right to be signing players we have never actually seen play. Obviously, we arent flying anyone out to Australia, but we should be using contacts to do some of our business for us. There was a reason that managers signed players they knew. They trusted them to be able to do a job. Can you really trust data?

Over the last decade we've transitioned from bringing in 7-8 new players and regularly brining in 16-20. There's a lot less of the younger crew coming through on a regular basis and we're going from full overhaul one season to a next. We've always had budget constraints , for me we're being really wasteful and the approach needs to change. Fair points, well made.
Spit_It_Out Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM On a serious note out with Miller who in our team would command a decent fee? Clearly AS was brought in in the hope he would do us a turn get good and sell on but that's looking like 50/50 for me still time to shine. Slattery might get us a low 6 figure fee decent enough player. We really need quality and let's be honest it doesn't take that much quality to look fantastic in Scottish football I hope Wimmer is backed ten fold to do so. Stama has 2 years left on his contract so he does still have ‘time to shine’. However, given he’s made of tissue paper and is 10,000 miles from home, I think the best we can hope to get from our investment is a few more goals and assists. He certainly hasn’t put himself in the shop window this season.

We can't afford this type of player on our books.

We’ve amassed a bloated squad littered with crocks and duds.
Spit_It_Out Posted yesterday at 01:54 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:54 PM I would give Stama a pre season and until the January transfer window 2026 if we don't see anything by then maybe best to part ways if we can but I have the feeling he might be off this summer. Seen glimpses of something but he needs to stay fit as a fiddle week in week out and I don't think that part is achievable sadly.

He shouldn’t be going anywhere this summer unless another club offers us some decent money for him.
grizzlyg
Stama wasn't played properly by Kettlewell at first, was playing the lone striker role. When we went 2 up top with Stama and Maswanhise they were looking a good partnership. I am not writing Stama off yet , a full pre season and hopefully wimmer can get best out him.
