He's an asset to us as a player. Why would you want to punt one of our better players and bring someone else in. We don't need to sell Callum. Miller is the saleable asset

I am well aware that miller is an asset that hopefully we can make millions on but we also make money on Slattery while he's fit. I realize you are callums biggest biggest fan but he's an average player that could be better if he learned to stop falling down when an opponent breaths too heavily behind , quite often this ruins the momentum going forward .

Are you saying that there not better players than Slattery out there that we could sign ?  we are far too loyal as a club to players and managers.

This problem started with the boards inability to get shot of kettlewell before he walked and I remember you were in the kettlewell shouldn't have left camp contrary to the vast majority of posters on here . That prat has left our club in deep shit.

My views on Kettlewell have nothing to do with whether I think Slattery should stay next season. Hopefully you'll understand that. It's irrelevant what my views on Kettlewell were.

I pay my money the same as the next person to watch my club and I don't think I should be chinned for any of my views. Did my view on Kettlewell on steelmenonline make any difference to what has happened after? I'm not responsible for what the board did or didn't do. Are we all supposed just to think the same way? I've been sorry when lots of managers have left. Not just Kettlewell. And as other people have said - Kettlewell kept us up when we were going down

I actually can't be arsed. It's just getting personal and I've got better things to be doing

Sorry my views didn't align with the "vast majority".

I was in NO camp. I've given Wimmer my backing. I wouldn't have travelled to Aberdeen if that wasn't the case. I also don't care what the vast majority of opinions were - I'm entitled to mine

You are entitled to your opinion and I have mine , we will just have to agree to disagree but you always take the hump when someone disagrees with you which is quite often.

Again you are getting personal. Which I've never done with you. Ever. I also don't care how often people disagree or don't disagree with me on this platform. I've had plenty of civil conversations with plenty of people on here. I don't have an issue with you. Let's just leave it there eh. You could have stopped the sentence after disagree. I've supported Motherwell since 1987. What difference does it make if I don't always agree with everyone on here? What's the issue if I liked Kettlewell or not?

There's no need to respond. 😉. I'm sure we all want the best for our club.

You think we will get rid of SOD for example?

No. I was specifically talking about our back 3 defensive personnel. That has been our weak spot for the past 2 or 3 seasons (at least), so Casey & Blaney can go without contract renewals.

I thought Gordon would be a step up, be hasn't lived up to his early promise either. So I'm fine with him leaving too.

No point trying to tweak what we have. We must have tried every possible combo without being close to successful. Sometimes you just need start again.

Hartley and Aldred were probably our last 2 good central defenders, and that's the level we need to find again.

Personally I would be happy to keep both Gordon and Casey but I think Casey will go elsewhere

Even when we beat Rangers and Dundee, Casey gave away both the goals we conceded.

As I've said before, I understand why people like Casey for his energy and disruptive nature in the oppositions' box. As a defender, though, he's constantly out of position, and struggles to pass the ball to his own team members.

A liability, especially when he's paired up with Blaney  - something like 3 clean sheets playing together in the league.

There comes a point when the mentality of a defence is just broken and they are incapable of performing at the required level. For me, it was obvious we had passed that point last season.

Some of our central defenders may go on and perform better elsewhere, but I honestly can't think of any combination of the current crop that I'd look at before a game and think "clean sheet".

I still want to keep him though :) think he's got better good qualities than bad if that makes sense. But I think he'll be off to Hearts

If they don't include defensive ability, then he's no use as a defender.

He saw this coming and that’s the real reason he jumped ship.

Possibly. Wimmer got a good half out of them against Dundee and 40 good minutes against The h**s and that's been it. The rest of the time we've been dire. Kettlewell got results out of us for the first quarter of the season and Wimmer has managed about 80 mins of decent football since he came in. With the right players playing (i.e. including McGinn and Slattery) we're a half decent team by PL standards when the players decide to do what they're told. When they run about aimlessly as individuals, we get pumped. Barring two short spells in games, we've been just as guff under Wimmer as we were under Kettlewell.

Do you think Casey has never been a good defender?

I don't think he's any better than Mugabi who people were happy to see the back of decrying him as 'not good enough' or more often 'shite'. I think you could easily put together a 'highlight reel' of goals that Casey has cost us that would more than match one for Mugabi.

By the way, I'm not saying Mugabi was good enough, it's just an indictment of where we are that I reckon he walks into our first team right now despite his limitations...

You're probably right. When he's on his game he's decent but when he's off it's a different story mind you could say the same for a good few players just now.

I'm quite looking forward to getting Jordan Mcghee in whenever he's played against us i've always thought he looked decent on the ball and he's got a knack for getting a couple of goals while being relativley solid defensivley

He’s versatile and likely to be a significant upgrade on a lot of our current players.

Is there any actual proof that this is happening?
