That shit should cut both ways. 100%. When we were awarded only 18 home games in the past, we were told that it was because we finished in the wrong half of the table. In the interests of consistency that should also have applied to Hearts. Shafted! Also typical that we get St Johnstone first. Thats the one game we didn't want. Kmcalpin
I reckon it'll be between ourselves and Ross County for the play off place. It'll be tight. I'm confident that we'll finish 2 or 3 points above St Johnstone though. Its hard to see where a win is going to come from.
Toxteth O'Grady
Bit more info here https://spfl.co.uk/news/post-split-qa-season-202425 How are the fixtures for rounds 34-38 determined? Clubs play 16 or 17 home games in the 33 fixture rounds before the split. We then try to ensure that all clubs finish up having played 19 games at home and 19 away. However, this is not always possible to achieve. For the first time since 2017/18 one club (St Mirren) will play 20 home games and one club (Motherwell) will play 18 at home. Motherwell were the last club to gain a home fixture, with Hearts the team that lost a home game in 2017/18.

A very subjective and controversial approach.
mio
Absolute blood sweat and snotters to win that first game to take some pressure off. A win in that game I think would see us ok. a defeat in that game and I think we are fkd!!
thewelllfan
If I was to guess our results right now I'd go St J (H) - D Dundee (A) - D Hearts (A) - L Killie (H) - W Ross C (A) - L
Ya Bezzer!
I think 1 win will keep us safe. Don't see three teams leaping over us with the points advantage we have if we can get to 42 points. However the fact that we have 3 away matches and our away form is absolute garbage does make me feel a bit nervous. Beat St. Johnstone and we'll be fine. Lose that match and it's going to be a nervous end to the season. You have to remind yourself that most of the teams in the Bottom 6 would love to be in our position even if our recent performances have been abysmal. Surely we've got one good performance in us? Spit_It_Out
Oh Christ a 2 week break before next game you know what happens every 2 week break. Simple really beat St Johnstone and I think we are all but safe defeat to St Johnstone and this lot will crumble.

We cant score so home draws are the most I see us getting. Could that keep us safe heres my stab at the fixtures Round 1 Motherwell versus St J - Draw Hearts v Dundee - Home win Kilmarnock v Ross County - Home Win .. that bloody pitch helping them Round 2 Dundee v Motherwell - Home Win Ross County V Hearts - Draw St J v Kilmarnock - Home win Round 3 Hearts v Motherwell - Home Win Kilmarnock v Dundee - Home Win St Johnstone v Ross County - Draw Round 4 Dundee v Ross County - Home Win Hearts v St Johnstone - Home Win Motherwell v Kilmarnock - Draw Round 5 Kilmarnock v Hearts - Home Win Ross County v Motherwell - Home Win St Johnstone v Dundee - Draw in the highly unlikely event this happened the table would finish like this and thats forecasting an utterly dire run in for us. Hearts 50 Kilmarnock 45 Motherwell 41 Dundee 41 Ross County 40 St Johnstone 36 Just a bit of fun, but even with only 2 points we could still escape the dreaded 11th, this scenario also sees St Johnstone gaining points every week but is extremely unlikely.

Let's be honest here, the only teams that are guaranteed an even split are Celtic and Rangers because anything else might impact who wins the League, and give one of them and their media lapdogs grounds for complaint. They don't care about any other team. The uneven split also denies us income from one home game. And no compo from the Authorities to offset that loss. St Mirren did well out of it though. An extra home game against a well supported top six team.

There's no form team in the bottom 6 right now, but if you look at the last 6 games: Hearts 7 points Motherwell 8 points Killie 4 points Dundee 7 points St Johnstone 8 points I still think 42 will do it, but our mentality should be to overhaul Hearts. mfc
I think with the amount of games left and the other teams doing damage to each other we should just be about ok but it would be nice if we beat st johnstone to settle any nerves.the concerning thing is we have went through the motions in the last 3 games and maybe the players are already on holiday mode.i agree with what weeyin just said above, catching hearts should be our goal rather than looking over our shoulder, the extra prize money would come in handy for the obvious rebuild that's coming in the summer. weeyin
In the context of needing a win to get top six, the result against Hearts was obviously not what we wanted. In the wider context of league points, it was a good game not to lose. Keeping a clean sheet has been a collector's item in the past few seasons. The old system obviously wasn't working, and a number of players aren't good enough for the new system. So I think we are stuck with a compromise that isn't firing on all cylinders. If guys like Seddon, Kaleta and Maswanhise are fully fit after the break, they might add enough to pick up the points we need.
twistandshout1983
Disappointed we are not getting a 3rd home game only because of anyone who pays a season ticket , 18-20 of course but it is what it is As things stand I don't think it will make too much difference playing home or away

wellgirl
This isn't the first time we've been in this position over the past few years. We've got a cushion over other teams - small as it is. I'm also happier that we play St Johnstone at Fir Park than away from home. We need to do the business but other teams below us will play one another and drop points. Kmcalpin
I can envisage us picking up a draw or maybe two at home but nothing from the away games, going on recent form. St Johnstone will be really fired up while they still have a fighting chance in the first game. Killie have our number although their away form is not great Tynecastle is a hard ground to pick up points. We have taken a mere point from Ross County in 3 games and Dundee have beaten us twice. Obviously a win against St Johnstone or Kilmarnock will settle our nerves but it won't be easy.

Might be in the minority but if we have the above mentioned players back the team I'd pick until we are safe is : Oxborough Casey Gordon Seddon Sparrow Miller Paton Thompson Slattery Watt Maswanhise Watt, Paton, Seddon. Thompson, Casey all playing for contracts with the others all contracted for next season should at least mean we have a motivated team to the end of the season. If Stam comes back throw him in for Watt aswell. If we are safe with games to go get any youth players he thinks are decent into the team and have a look at them. Watt for me is the only St we have that keeps hold off the ball long enough to relieve pressure and we need Maswanhise to stretch teams. Was thinking Armstrong more off the bench and the fact I think he's still under contract with Carlisle beyond this season and we certainly shouldn't be looking at him permanently. I also do think Watt is a useful player even if he's not scoring
