We have seen that movie plenty already this season. Watt has been absolutely gash since his return and shows little sign of turning it around.

However Watt for me is the best St out of what we have available and is OOC so playing to put himself in the shop window. That team you've qouted is just a team of players mainly under contract. As I've said elsewhere the team I'd pick is: Oxborough Casey Gordon Seddon Sparrow Miller Paton Thompson Slattery Watt Maswanhise
Kmcalpin
I'd have Seddon in my team but just how match fit will he be, given the length of his absence?

Bags of talent but there's something lacking. At 31 I don't foresee him offering much more and can play in the Scottish Championship next season. As I've said elsewhere the team I'd pick is: Oxborough Casey Gordon Seddon Sparrow Miller Paton Thompson Slattery Watt Maswanhise I think you need to read my 3 posts on possible future team selection together. The point raised was that we should ditch our loanees and out of contract players as they have no incentive to put their bodies on the line for the club during the run in. I dont necessarily agree with that (some will, some wont) but thought Id play the game. What I would do in those circumstances, what Wimmer is likely to do and what our best overall team selection is, are all totally different things. FWIW I think Tony Watt is a far more talented footballer that Armstrong. But for me, he hasnt shown he is willing to work hard enough to get himself in the shape necessary to contribute to the cause (either that or he is done). So Id play Armstrong because he runs himself into the ground (and we dont have anyone else who has shown they can play the loan striker role.) My personal preference would be to go to a 4 at the back as I think it best suits the players that we have. Playing a 5 means relying on Kaleta and Seddon being fit. Thompson wouldnt play again for me. He has a good engine but continually gives the ball away. His positional sense and reasing of the game are also poor. Of course none of this really matters as Michael Wimmer is his own man. But his decisions will influence the confodence the support have in him going forward. He does need to show he is capable of getting the most out of what is at his disposal. He started positively, but things have stalled recently. David
Some amount of pant wetting going on around here of late. Looking forward to when we scud this lot, and end up cruising to a fairly standard 7th or 8th place finish. You'd think we were the side five points adrift at the bottom going by the patter on this forum.

I would put Casey and Slattery up front they have more of a goal threat than Tony Watt I wouldn't even have him on the bench. We paid a rival club for his services never for get that. thewelllfan
I don't think Watt is great but he's the only Striker we have that can keep hold off the ball and link the play. He needs to do more in front of goal I agree but his link up play is Important to the system working. Armstrong isn't awful but in general prefer Watt starts and he comes off bench. Plange was woeful v St Mirren and not done much else. Dickson who knows he's barley played but going back to City so not overly arsed. Ebieye's first touch and passing remind me of Mugabi so I don.t think he's the answer and Stams injured. So for me Watts the best of the remaining 5. 1 hour ago, steelman1991 said: Watt's been playing to put himself in the shop window all season and has been ...... gash. texanwellfan
If we were pinging crosses in the box from both wings I’d play Moses and/or Armstrong but if we are hitting long balls and expecting hold up play till the support arrives then it looks like Watt is your man. Although I would say if we play high press game then we have more chance of getting balls into the box and I wouldn’t start Watt. FFS, we are playing St Johnstone so if ever a game screamed “play high press” this is it!!!
robsterwood
2 nil win for the good guys and send this Perth mob packing. Won't miss drive up there and nothing near stadium.
thewelllfan
To give Daws his due during his time here he's been decent at finding Sts - Bair, Biereth, Van Veen and I think Stam if you keep him fit could join those names. However this season his recruitment in that area's been poor.

No argument about Biereth and Stam though but hopefully the latter will remain injury-free and show us what he can do.

Christ knows but It wouldn't shock me tbh we were looking so desperate last summer for transfers. Defo paying some of his wages and that's more than enough for me. I was a big Tony Watt fan first time he was with us When he came back I was happy to see him back hoping he would get back to his previous form I don't think he has done enough so far to merit being here next season . Still 5 games to go though

twistandshout1983
Hopefully a bigger crowd against St Johnstone, does nothing for me as a season ticket holder but more fans in the stadium and less empty seats is the way forward Sad thing is anytime we have a bigger than average crowd more often than not we are p*sh
