This goalie gives you the fear.

I don't understand how he can be perceived as the best option.

He conceded a ridiculous amount of goals for St Mirren , we've had the same issue.

I get why he was drafted in when Ox got injured and the loanee got injured but why Ox isn't been given the gloves back is beyond me.

Well that was unnecessarily stressful, at 3-1 we should have managed that better but let’s be honest, 2 poor teams and 3 points was crucial considering the other results.

i think we are safe and away from 2nd bottom now.

Slattery and Watt were excellent. Another season in the top flight awaits thankfully

great to get the points and move us play-offs .

Bring back Ox, that's 21 goals in 11 games since Balcombe came in.

Most of that is down to our terrible defenders. I'll give them more of a pass today due to lack of available personnel, but our defence has been honking for a few seasons now.

Since we only have 2 home games after the split it was really vital to win this today. Mission accomplished on that score but it was far too close for my liking.

However, steps need to be taken to ensure we get a few better quality players in for next season.

I’m not that comfortable yet although we have ruled out automatic relegation and I think a win next week would secure safety

Defenders had nowt to do with his poor performance. He dropped several ariel balls that could have cost us.  He was signed as a dominating goalie. He is the complete opposite. Defenders have zero confidence in him.

100% this, he gives me the fear big time, how he is still getting picked ahead of Oxborough is crazy.

He couldn't catch the cold. Get him out and put our goalkeeper for next year back In Ox.

I'd be amazed if 42 points isn't enough to stay above 11th.

2023/24 11th team (and 10th) had 35

2022/23 11th had 34 and 10th had 40

2021/22 11th had 35 and 10th had 42

2020/21 11th had 36 and 10th had 39

2019/20 Covid year so skipped it

2018/19 11th had 32 and 10th had 33

I won't go back any further, but it would be an unusual table this year if 42 is anything less than 10th.

I'm not saying he's great. I'm saying our defence has been terrible for at least 3 seasons and even if today's keeper let a dozen soft goals this season that would a minor contribution to the overall honkingness of that car crash that is our central defence.

A defence needs a commanding goalie. One that takes the pressure of them when a ball comes into the six yard box. Apart from a brief time before Ox confidence was dented at a cross ball, we not had one for many a season. A good competent goalie who organises and catches crosses seem to be rare these days.
