Maxi
I think we're building ourselves for a major letdown. Not a chance in hell it will be Macheda or Welbeck for that matter.
Chris
Exactly. Just because it's an EPL striker dosen't mean it will be someone known or even good for that matter. It'll be a guy we haven't heard of.... or Stokes at best but hopefully whoever it is he does a job.
Rickoza
Could be almost anyone to be honest. Some folk will do whatever is necessary to get into the shop window as it were.
Martin86
Calm down guys, its likely to be an unkown youngster, lad from Burnely is alot more realistic than Macheda or Wellbeck. Hopefully find out tomorrow.
madwullie
MTF guys it's some unknown youngster. He's been on trial with us FFS why would we "trial" someone who is touching on an EPL first team?
brazilmfc
Macheda !!!!!! Inter wanted him on loan at the start of the season and got knocked back, no chance. Stokes would be a good shout, but i think it will be some unknown youngster. But if he does the job, welcome aboard son !!!!
Motherwell Football Club
Danny Wellbeck. I did say this a while back too. Edit: May not be him, possibly Brandy?
Maxi
I'm going to ramble a guess at Zavin Hines of West Ham United. Cracking wee player apparently.

postiejim
Stokes is away to Hibees on 3year deal, so that's one off the list Good player but not as good as a lot of the hype would suggest. Kyle at Killie is another one that imo fits that category .
colsa
BBC Sport now reporting he has signed a 3 year deal. Lets hope he ain't the player Falkirk had a couple of years back - would have liked us to sign him. Lets hope Mr Gannon comes up trumps with our EPL starlet! Tartan_Special
On the gossip column: Birmingham manager Alex McLeish is ready to release forwards Marcus Bent and Gary McSheffrey. (Daily Mirror) EDIT: "He's a decent young player, coming from a Premiership club and we hope he can add something to us," Maybe not then

Wellfan1984
Look at the strike force partner Stokes had at Falkirk. Big Alan Gow to knock everything down for him. Stokes won't have any of that at Hibernian. It is not rocket science to see both Stokes and Gow fed off each other if you see they have done precisely fuck all since splitting up. Now if the Hobos signed a player that could do that to go along with Stokes then I would be shitting myself, but until then I'll be shocked if he scores or plays anywhere near as good as he did at Falkirk. EDIT. Unless you mean I think he won't sign. Yeah that is a definite but he won't be as good as the Stokes of Falkirk
ONeils40yarder
Rhys Murphy of Arsenal is the latest name that my 'source', who got it so wrong with Anthony Stokes, is claiming we are interested in.
Wellfan1984
Still can't believe we never went for Ryan Flynn of Liverpool, although I think Falkirk had first choice if he was to return to Scotland - since he is a former Falkirk player

Eh? Colin Nish is the very man to knock it down for Stokes. Hibs have the potential to be very good going forward with Nish, Stokes, Riordan, Benji, Zemmamma & a couple of excellent young kids (Byrne & Wotherspoon) in their ranks. colsa
Was about to post that about Nish myself. A million miles from being a world beater but a decent SPL striker with a fairly good record against us. With Riordan etc as well I agree that Hibs might have a decent forward line this year. Hope I'm wrong right enough....
johnstone
Hibs have one of the best forwards lines in the SPL and now with Stokes in they have got even better. I expect Hibs to do very well this season.
jk2205
They've also had one of the better forward lines the last few years...Fletcher, Killen, O'Connor and done nothing.

Andy_P
Good player but not as good as a lot of the hype would suggest. Kyle at Killie is another one that imo fits that category . I'd say 10 goals in 12 SPL games for Kyle and 14 goals in 16 SPL games for Stokes tends to justify the hype in my view.
