Malky79
Was thinking of tagging this onto In's and Out's thread but think it worth a thread of its own. Within reason what team do you want or expect to see start first game of next season? Hard to nigh on impossible to predict new faces and be sure who will or won't be around but roughly what you want to see? For me the the biggest dilemma is how do I want to see the team line up, othodox 4-4-2 as we kinda shifted back to or attempt the free flowing 4-3-3 system. I'm gonna assume Smith is gone, Hughes to stay and Klimpl joins up. Fraser Quinn Craigan McLean Hammell Lasley Hughes Klimpl O'Brien Clarkson Murphy Hoping and expecting to see some new faces come in to freshen up the squad further. A left sided midfielder that is more rounded than Fitzpatrick, a striker that can maybe lead the line a bit better than what we have just now would be nice. Neil
I'd love to see us line up something like ---------------------Fraser--------------------------- -------- McLean----Craigan----Reynolds Quinn -------------------------------------Hammell ---------------------Lasley-------------------------- O Brien -------------------------------------New LM ---------------Sutton----------Clarkson------------ Think that would be a decent line up, allowing our full backs to attack whilst keeping a solid back line, with Reynolds playing closer to left back, allowing cover for his mistakes with two more solid centre halves alongside him. If we can have Lasley or Klimpl in the holding role with a new AM, whoever replaces Hughes linking the midfield and front two then we can really look to take the game to opposition teams. The Sutton/Clarkson partnership is maturing, every time I see it, I get more impressed with their link up and I see goals in them if they get decent support and I think O Brien and a decent LM- not Steven McGarry, who for all his effort, lacks any real end product, going forward and getting the balls in would help them fire them in. Realistically, 2 new signings is all we can hope for, other than Fraser, and I'd prefer them to come in the midfield area as we are crying out for a decent left sided mid- Jim McAllister? Malky79
Lol damn it you beat to it there, indeed if we could be allowed to field 12 players we could be onto a good season!
Neil
Ach bollocks, that's why I failed maths, I forgot to count Fraser. That'll be the new AM out the window.

andybug
GK So most of your accepting Inverness no.2 will be our no.1 next season! If Smith goes we need to replace him properly RB I'd give Saunders a go at till end of season at right back see how he does LB Stick with Hammel CB Cash in on Reynolds and buy a commanding centre half CB Craigan or Maclean LM A priority needs to be made to sign a left midfielder Lappin or Paterson?? CM Hughes if he stays if not a playmaker Mcarthur of Hamilton??? too expensive maybe?? CM Klimpl or Patrick Gregg if we can afford them RM Jim O'brien ST Clarkson ST We need someone more mobile than Sutton, I'd take Sheridan on a seasons loan Squad players Lasley Murphy Fitzpatrick Mcgarry Quinn Sutton I'd get shot of Bob Malcolm and Darren Lee Smith

mon_da_well
He was dropped 'cause he let in 5 at Ibrox. There is most likely a long list of very good Scottish keepers who have let 5 in at Ibrox and Celtic Park.
Wellfan1984
Yep he was made a scape goat from Ibrox despite playing a blinder of a game against them. If I remember rightly it was 5 going on 20 that game. He was not brought back after the diabolical keeping by their current number 1 against us nor more recently because he was not signing a new contract. I am more than happy to see Fraser as our number 1 next season. Fraser is a good keeper, and would go as far to say better than ICT's current number 1. I don't know what so many people on here see in Patrick Cregg, I wouldn't have him anywhere near our team.
mon_da_well
No way, McLean is a very good player and have no worries about playing him at righ back or as cover for centre back but Craggs is twice the player of McLean.
Wellfan1984
Craggs is by far the best central defender at the club. Next season, with Norn Iron's sechedule being less hectic will hopefully mean less injuries for the Ulsterman.
MelvinBragg
Key players for next season are Clarkson, Quinn and O'Brien. Clarkson and O'Brien are the only two players with any semblance of pace at the club (I'm excluding Murphy as I think it's laughable to consider him a first teamer yet). And Paul Quinn is the most natural defender we have at the club. What I'd like to see is Saunders get a game at right back for the next games and Quinn get a run at centre back. His distribution and pace is better than Craigan's, and he's tougher than Reynolds. Could do worse than giving him the armband back as well. The other players that are on our books at the moment? There are those I'd like to stay, but I don't think I'd break my heart if any of them left...

If Hughes leaves and it leaves O'Brien as our creative hope god help us.
mon_da_well
Sorry, but 5 new players of the required quality is not financially possible.
ML1
True what id like and what ill get and expect are two different things. If pushed then id keep all our defenders, the return of McLean gives us options and i didnt think Quinn let us down on the left , give Murphy a run or concentrate our annual loans up there and spend any real money we have on midfielders as other than Hughes and Klimpl the rest are nowhere near top 6 standard as the next 5 games will show. mon_da_well
Yeah, very true mate. I'd be happy to start next season with Craigan and McLean as our back two (providing McLean promises to not get injured).
Juan Kerse
Can I say it for about the 7th season in a row.... .....We still haven't had a left mid since Stuart Elliott......... Wonder if we will bring one in....
