Cakes
The headline says "Hands off" but the article itself only says that "the club will do everything it can to keep hold of boss Mark McGhee". I'd imagine we'll be very limited in how much we can actually do to keep him. Also, according to Real Radio at lunch-time, McGhee has a clause in his contract which would allow a move to Celtic in return for £200,000 compensation. If this is true, there may be nothing the club can do.

SuperSteelman
On Sky Sports News that Celtic have asked for permission to speak to Roy Aitken so hopefully they will leave McGhee alone now.

Martin86
On Sky Sports News that Celtic have asked for permission to speak to Roy Aitken so hopefully they will leave McGhee alone now. Its all good Celtic may leave him alone but still the high possibility of him going to Aberdeen, Im not worrie dabout McGhee going to celtic anyway tbh, not going to happen. Not done enough imo and Celtic fans will demand a bigger name. Aberdeen is more likely destination if he is to leave. Would like him to stay for another season but cant see it happening. Time will tell.

Cakes
I'd be happy with David O'Leary as Celtic manager if we could somehow get Peter Ridsdale in to replace Peter Lawwell.
Rickoza
Just spoken to Shellic buddy who has said that the top brass at their midden have looked into spending some dosh and have made tentative enquiries with the ex Ajax boss, Marco Van Basten. Seems to be a change in direction for them!!!! Didn't he just preside over one of THE worst-ever seasons Ajax have had in their history? Great choice, go for it..............! MelvinBragg
The back page of the expresss today "Well boss favourite to land Celtic job". But with no quotes or direct communication mentioned...who knows. Saga goes on... Trying to put a positive spin on things, at least that would make most of the Celtic fans I know unhappy. And on a semi-serious note, I can't really see him coming in for any players that he might have targetted for us if he goes to Celtic. Couldn't say the same were he to end up at Aberdeen. Let's just hope that it's not a saga and it's all sorted one way or the other soon...
Well-Made
The Express reports also that Celtic fans are holding off on buyin season tickets until they see who is the new boss. Charlie Nicholas inside says McGhee is good enough for either Aberdeen or Celtic. He alos goes onto spout pish about McGhee needing to get away from the worst pitch in the SPL. Surely that would rule out Pittodrie!!!!
Steve Diggle
It's times like these that we realise why we all love Celtic, their 'hangers-on, and the best fans in the world Truth is like their blue pals (and lets not forget they are pals) they're a big club because of their ,handed down through generations, sectarian slice of the pie. The best fans in the world expect their board to deliver one of the top coaches in the world - someone Barca or Chelsea would be looking to recruit. None of them would even look at it. The big names in the UK will all think twice about the manager's job their due to the pressure the infantile scurrilous scottish media and the mental expectations of the best fans in the world who only really live for the 4 OF games, any time they meet their pals in the cup and the couple of games they manage to get in Europe. Their best hope unfortunately is for someone who is mental eough to count themselves as a fan, some 'ex' top coach who is on the rebound from the sack (or a few years in the wilderness) or someone who doesn't fully understand what he's getting himself into. Any coach worth their salt wouldn't touch that pile of turgid shit with an asbestos bage-pole!
real dosser
Don't laugh at the Roy Aitken link. I heard last night that it's a done deal for David O'Leary as manager with Aitken as assistant. The official announcement is being delayed till Sunday so the Smelts can steal Rangers thunder in the press (assuming The Teddy Bears win the cup) If you haven't heard this before remember you heard it here first. Mon the Dossers.

Rickoza
Evening Times continues to stir..... Mark McGhee not No.1 choice at Celtic Mark McGhee by Ronnie Cully CELTIC today denied reports that approaches had been made to Mark McGhee's agent as they search for the man to succeed Gordon Strachan. The Motherwell boss was the outgoing man's recommendation, and is one of the names on the list of possible candidates being considered for the vacancy. But club sources were quick to deny McGhee's agent had been contacted or that he had shot to the top of their wanted list. Aberdeen are expected to approach Motherwell with a view to discussing the manager's position at Pittodrie with the former Dons, Celtic and Hamburg striker. do_dp_ad();But this will not spook Celtic into making any sudden move for McGhee. Following Owen Coyle's decision to remain at Burnley - where he is expected to sign a lucrative new contract - the Parkhead club are revisiting the entire list of possible targets rather than focusing on just one man. Tony Mowbray remains high on the list. But, as yet, no approach has been made to the Hawthorns club who would demand around £1.6million to release their manager and his assistant, Mark Venus and Peter Grant, from their contracts. The Baggies boss is understood to be unhappy about heading back into the Championship with a squad which he has been told to slash by up to a third. But it is not clear if the former Hibs manager believes a return to Scotland would be the best move for him at this stage in his career. And, with the possibility the Middlesbrough job may become vacant soon as Gareth Southgate comes under pressure following relegation, a move back to his native North East may be more attractive to Mowbray. What has become clear is that Celtic have adopted a measured approach to finding the right man. And chairman John Reid has sent out a Trust Us' message to the Hoops fans desperate to find out who will be the new boss at the club. He has assured them they are attempting to get the very best man for the job, though this promise must be qualified by the word available.' Reid said: "It's better to get this right rather than be rushed. "As the board has done in recent years, through the appointment of Martin O'Neill and Gordon Strachan, we aim to appoint a manager who will bring continued success to the club. "Clearly, Celtic's priority is to appoint the very best candidate. "We'll aim to do this as soon as we possibly can, but we will also do so in a professional, considered manner and ensure we appoint the correct individual for the club and its supporters."
