andybug
On the BBC interview he says the first game to be played on the pitch will be August 15th, so all European games and friendlies will be away from Fir Park!

Finlay
So Wigan/A.N Other will be at Excelsior then......if it's a 'home' friendly? Are Airdrie not allowed to play at their own park anymore?
weeyin
I think the idea is we play at the opponents' home ground rather than Airdrie's.
Finlay
Tut. I wanted to see Airdrie second choice even at their own ground. I imagine the 'our ground won't be ready till the 15th' bit is their canny way of getting out of a friendly instead of showing that in reality we were dinghied by Wigan good and proper. Yir Elder
If that is true then what a shower of bastards! It was Villarreal last year, why do these big clubs think they can treat clubs like ours in such a shabby way?

Actually play is pretty much all Airdrie are allowed to do at *the* ground these days. (I say the rather than their because they don't actually own it). Article in the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser the other week had Kenny Black pondering where they were going to base themselves for training as they had been priced out of using it during the week. Their registered address is somewhere in St Enoch Square in Glasgow. There's a thread on their forum where one of the Airdrie lot has even admitted this could, by some distance, be the biggest attendance they'll have at the ground this season. Pepper
Wigan have just had a change of management so I'm not suprised they have altered their schedule. It was never confirmed at any time on their own website. Villareal I'm not so sure about.
Neil
You think it may have been us that pulled out? Given the remarks about being told to give the pitch as long as possible, maybe the club felt it in the best interests to cancel the meaningless game? Juan Kerse
Shout I wouldn't mind a couple of friendlies at lower league grounds around the central belt. I'm sure we could ask any number of teams about an hour or two away from Motherwell for a geme, even on a Monday night. It is something to do so I'm sure a good few 'Well fans will go out and it will give their club some cash. Surely we could ask the likes of Stirling Albion, Dumbarton, Alloa or even Albion Rovers for a geme?
