TheLip69
Weirdly, the wee guy in the goalie's jersey second from the right in the front row could be Howard Sameroffs boy.

TheLip69
i played in that team with jim griffin[81] I've got a picture of that team somewhere, it was taken at Robertson Park the night we beat Fir Park Boys Club 2-1 in the league cup final. I'll look it out and post it. Jim Prentice, Tommy Anderson, and myself took that team.

Browni
Love this thread, brings back many memories. Here's one I took back in '91. Sorry about the size but I can't find the original
cameltoe
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4561214266961276292 Nice video of the citadel from the early 1980's. Brings a tear to the eye! It honestly seems like yesterday i would stand in the knowtop end cheering on the boys. The cooper seems like a totally different place. cameltoe
Also this vid is worth a look. Always wanted to find goals of the 2005 league cup semi versus hearts. Never got to see the goals on tv after returing home from the game. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4...472338929781258 seems like yesterday anaw. CoF
Cool photo kicking about on twitter - thought some might want to see. I was going to start a Fir Park photos thread but thought I'd resurrect a decade old thread instead.
DEWELL
Marvellous pics. Remember the pie shop at the top of the wee end. Me and a mate getting grub and him giving Paul McCray pelters surrounded by 10000 of them as we used to get a tiny section of the shed in them days against the old squirm. FirParkCornerExile
Motherwell v Ayr United 1976? My first ever Motherwell game..... Probably Sept 1976 we beat them 4-
Yabba's Turd
My first ever Motherwell game..... Probably Sept 1976 we beat them 4-1 I don't think this is at Fir Park, the buildings behind the terracing are unfamiliar.
steelman1991
Yeah - think that's Somerset Park - Willie McVie and Pat Gardner.
tintowellfan
Looks like Willie Pettigrew standing right at the back, top left. Surely not! Pretty sure that is the home end at Somerset Park, the covered end. The galvanised sheeted roof is at the turnstiles. steelman1991
And "Dixie" Ingram before his car dealership days? Good spot - was familiar, just couldn't put a name to him - thanks. @tintowellfan - both ends were covered at Somerset - it was only the terracing that ran the full length of the pitch that was uncovered. Happy Dosser
My pleasure: a consequence of age . Ingram always reminded me of Drew Busby: a pretty tough customer. Think he got a transfer to Nottingham Forest eventually.

Yes, just my poorly worded post. Just meant that covered end was the home fans end. I lived in Ayr for a couple of years in the late 70's and went to quite a few of their games , home and away. Had some brilliant days out as the fans I knew were very friendly, and liked a good bevvy before, during and after the game. Remember crossing the Clyde on a car ferry, that took only one car, to go to a match somewhere north of the Clyde. No idea where as the bevvy has made that a distant memory. Oh the good old days of the Four Crown and the Lannie wine. So many lost memories!!!

Prior to that we had all sorts of 'fun' swapping ends at half-time and after on the dual-carriageway just before the Racecourse where the buses parked. Could never get a taste for 'the wine' in any of it's forms - straight Tennents lager (think it had to do with the glamour girls on the back). daver
Good to see this thread resurrected- some good memories although I have to admit the last few discussions have been a wee bit before my time! Having looked back over a few pages the one thing that jumped out was the number of posters that don't seem to get involved nowadays. I know there's many reasons for that (and I'm not looking to start on that as it won't be to anyone's benefit) but it's a pity as the more people willing to share memories and have an interest in this club of ours the better.
