Well Well
Apparently the biggest problem they have just now is foxes digging up the pitch....hmmm wonder if Mr Boyle has a shotgun licence
Brazilian
Looked outstanding tonight, Good work looks to have been done on the surface and we must have the best drainage in the UK to deal with the rain that fell in the hour before kick off, many street drains couldn't cope with the deluge is the grass being left a little bit longer to help it develop/grow/take root? Yabba's Turd
I'll wait until December before i make a judgement on the pitch. So long as it doesn't snow and no-one without prior knowledge of grass and rootsystems decides it might be a good idea to melt the snow off the covers with the undersoil heating our pitch will be fucking outstanding, like it should have been last year. Steve Diggle
Totally agree with that Yabba - it looks a bit toucher than last year. Even in the early games last you could see that tearing up a bit in slide tackles - but it held together until the slow cooker incident after the boxing day fixture. Early days but this could be an altogether differnet proposition with the old fibresand. Would like to hear onthefringes thoughts on it
Onthefringes
Would like to hear onthefringes thoughts on it No, credit where it is due... considering the rainfall, our visitors trained on the surface the previous evening also and surface looked immaculate, holding up under challenges unlike last year even when in good condition. A victory for fibresand? Well, heralded as a new development, it was nothing new to the market... Mild winter required? Vegetarian foxes? Undersoil heating manual? It'll be a long, hard season mind. delboy
3 games played at Fir Park in 8 days and it's been pissing it down and is only going to get wetter the questions will then new pitch stand up to it? If it does will the media praise Motherwell for such a fine pitch?
Kmcalpin
Pitch will take this rain no bother. We've even had to water it recently. The surface certainly looked better than McDiarmid Park's last night.
Bop
I'm not worried about rain, its if I starts to snow I have fears about the groundstaff.
Gaag
I'm not worried about rain, its if I starts to snow I have fears about the groundstaff. +1 it's not the pitch i'm worried about, it's the folk looking after it
Steve Diggle
So it was at the first signs of snow last year that things went a bit ready steady cook! Here's hoping for a different outcome this year
Gaz
Good point Steve D. This is on the BBC website today: Motherwell are trying to prepare for two matches within the space of four days. They are away to Dundee United on Saturday followed by a home match with Hearts next Tuesday. The Fir Park pitch is currently playable as the under-soil heating has been on constantly since the bad weather began. "The pitch is being monitored twice a day, but with the under-soil heating being on it's costing us a fortune," added Dempster

Makes you wonder what is the point.
underboyleheating
Like last year pitch was playable, at much expense, and Accies game still off. Makes you wonder what is the point. Fair point Fatcalf, the whole excercise is costing clubs money they can ill afford. The ironic thing is, if the Hearts game was called off due to a frozen pitch, they would fine us. I’m not sure what the answer is, as clubs are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. At a time when clubs can ill afford to waste money they are effectively gambling that the powers that be (Police, council’s) will say the roads/car parks are safe for a game to go ahead.
