Andy_P
I believe it was 2 year deals both Hutchinson and Page signed towards the end of last season. Â Doesn't impact on the principle of getting players on more secure deals but we don't have that extra year to play with, with the two of them. Steve Diggle
Cheers Shaka - exactly the kind of info required. There appears general agreement we need to tie up the new talent on longer term contracts. But I condemn any notion of discarding established squad members like Hammell and Lasley. We need to build a squad, not just a team. I think JG will pick a side appropriate for each match. Just cos someone gets dropped, doesn't mean they are out the picture.  Going by some comments on here, as soon as Forbes, Coke et al have one mediocre game, that's them up for sale.  Let's get behind Gannon and ALL the team.  Sounds like your looking for 118 118 and not Steelmenonline.  I don't like writing anything that's too negative about players as I think I might be happy clappy (not entirely sure). But I wouldn't lose any sleep about losing Hammell or Lasley. i'm sorry if I'm a bad person.  I think Fitzy's the only one Gannon's been hasty on and I'd have him before Lasley. MelvinBragg
Wee bit of factual information.... Expect 1 or 2 of these youngsters to sign in the next week or so. Forbes being the frist. Let's hope so. Although if his new contract includes a bonus for goals scored, we could be in administration again...
Steelmen
Let's hope so. Although if his new contract includes a bonus for goals scored, we could be in administration again... Â nice to see the midfield chipping in with a few goals, unlike last year where they were very scarce.
Haggischomper
These baseball-style 'option' contracts that Coke and Hateley are on, does anyone know who holds the option? Is it a club option, a player option or is it some sorta mutual thing?
Colc
Forbes being the frist. Â And Hutchison not far behind.
Wellfan1984
Hutch getting another new contract? I guess that will be more to do with given him a First Team Wage, or are we going to finally see someone on a long term contract? Motherwell giving out long term contracts
Dee
I dont doubt any of the posters but it really annoys me when people comment with statements such as players will be signing contracts etc without stating how or what they know! Motherwell Football Club
To be fair Dee, most of those things are usually on a need to know basis and shouldn't be posted on a public forum. Â But aye, spill the beans.
FJ-94
St mirren had the power to activate the 1 year extension for Dorman don't know if thats the same for us
Steve Diggle
Stretching the young guy bit a shade as he's hitting the heady heights of 22. Â I hope we're remembering that Jim O'Brien can start talking to clubs in the next transfer window 4 months from now.
another number
Did not know that about O'Brien! I'd be happy to see him tied down now. The improvement he's made is great and he can definately do a job for us I think
ML1
I dont imagine the queue is going to be around the block for O'Brien. He isnt going to end up at anywhere better than Fir Park , i very much doubt if any other SPL club would be interested, id rather keep our cash and see who else we could get for our money. Â Slane , McHugh , Murphy (Coke , Humphrey , Archdeacon) all offer more going forward IMO and in defence he is no use at all
weeyin
McGhee will put in a bid for O'Brien during the January window.
Steve Diggle
I disagree entirely, but acknowledge that the support are still split on him (which puzzles me). Â Guys behind me watched / ignored hammell having a bombsacre on sat - yet gave JOB pelters for everything and anything. Just the way it is. another number
I gnuinely think there will be clubs sniffing around O'Brien, ok maybe not Man United but clubs that can potentially offer more than we can. He isn't the player he was a year ago and I fully expect him to improve even further this season under Gannon
milo
I'd like to see O'Brien stay. I think he's definately got something to offer. I wouldn't be surprised if McGhee put an offer in for him in January either. A few of the guys I go with to the games don't rate O'Brien but I think he's got bags of potential. gullane
McGhee will put in a bid for O'Brien during the January window. Can see McGhee wanting him - but having the cash to splash is another matter.
madwullie
O'Brien has looked a really dangerous player in most of the games this season. Only person to offer something - could take on men and hit shit crosses all day. But then, if he could take on men and deliver perfect crosses he wouldn't be with us. Â Has came on leaps and bounds since he signed up and if he can continue this progress under Gannon we could make a few bob off him medium term. Â Get him signed (and teach him how to cross)
ONeils40yarder
Heard a rumour today that Diamond and Miller of Aberdeen are potentially signing for Norwich and Middlesboro respectively, for over 1.5million (which I find hard to believe). Â If it happens, I wouldnt be surprised to see McGhoo trying to take some players off our hands.
Frazzie
Can't imagine Lambert will have deals done already!

I had heard Boro were looking at Miller. As Frazzle says, hard to believe that Lambert has identified targets already...
ONeils40yarder
As I say, I'm not sure how much I believe but the rumour is rife in sheep-shaggerland. They are talking of raking in over 1.5million for the pair, which is crazy money considering that the two of them aren't great.
Wellfan1984
If Aberdeen lose Miller and Diamond I will piss myself laughing. No way are they going to get players in to replace them before January.
