nethertonwellfan
The pitch is a disgrace. You wouldn't get a park like that these days
daver
They're tremendous. Long before camera gantries they obviously just planked a camera-man behind one of the goals and it was pot-luck what he managed to film. The ref's shorts and suit jacket combo in the first game is an absolute belter.
madwullie
Some of the tackles as well...
Bop
There is absolutely no skill involved there at all. Why is it years ago everyone was pish at football? And why every time the goalie gets the ball does he just punt it away as far and quickly as he can? Are people allowed to come up and punt him? Jay
And why every time the goalie gets the ball does he just punt it away as far and quickly as he can? Are people allowed to come up and punt him? I thought booting the keeper was pretty much the idea in pre-war football!

The balls weighed a ton (even more when they got wet), if the laces hit you in the eye you could be blinded and the boots were more suited to working down the pit. ML1
The ref's shorts and suit jacket combo in the first game is an absolute belter. When did refs stop wearing that rig out ? Ive seen pictures of Tiny Wharton refereeing in it in the 60s , maybe later , was it being worn as late as the 70s ?
Burn_Broomfield
The ref's shorts and suit jacket combo in the first game is an absolute belter. Agreed. You can picture the conversation after a foul. "Right!!! Now listen here son, one more of those neck high tackles and I may have to put you in the book, understand?" "Sorry Sir, Won't Happen again Sir..."
Yabba's Turd
I remember a junior cup final ending with 10 men in the net and the goal being given....
Ya Bezzer!
Try telling those guys that due to its wooden construction the Main stand is a non smoking area. Love the hat social hierarchy - bunnet, trilby, bowler.
