Rickoza
Know it's a bit early, but thought it might be appropriate given it really is know a crucial match for us. Impressed by United today, they wanted to attack and had the ability to do so, and thoroughly merited their win over Celtic. However, like any team, they aint unbeatable. They seem to rely a lot on the counter, and if we snuff this out and mark well (gotta be easier to mark that Celtic did toay) it's there if we want it. Any thoughts? Rammer
Having watched United a couple of times this season I think they are a much more clinical team than us at the moment. They seem to be able to play at a reasonably high tempo and because of this I think they will beat us quite easily on Saturday. Love to be proved wrong but we aren't getting the goals some of our play deserves and if you can't take your chances you're going to lose/draw more than you'll win. Fuckin' depressed now! Cookie Monster
They're unbeaten away from home, this will be a tough one. Have to agree with Rammer if we don't take our chances we'll be easily beaten, if we do we might sneak a draw at best. Hope I'm wrong. Jay
Is Hutchison back? If we can go with a back four of Saunders - Reynolds - Hutchison - Hammell, Ruddy doesn't try to pass the ball to Hateley on the edge of our own box, and we don't make mental changes at half-time if everything's going well... then I can see us getting a point from the game. However, I fear a drubbing.
Maxi
This match will make our break our season. Win - The aim will remain best of the rest. Lose - Top 6 finish is the aim. Draw- I really dont know, but i'd say top 6.
Special aka
Odds on the draw will be lower than normal I reckon. However, right now I'll take it.
weeyin
This match will make our break our season. With 26 games remaining, I don't think it will. It's not normally until the end of January that these things start to take shape and with a number of teams being so evenly matched this season, it might be even later than that. Hibs will hit a wee loss of form sooner or later and Dundee Utd have a recent history of dropping points during the run in. Saying that, I think we will beat them by the odd goal. Their style of play seems to suit us more than it suits the OF.
DosserJoe
Got to say that next weekends fixtures all look tasty! We are only 6 (SIX!) points off the top, Utd are 3 points off the top! Sheep vs. h**s is always a good game. The tims have St Mirren, who are capiable of taking something at porkheid. The only top 6 team who have it easy this week is Hibs. Best case for us would be for the Tims to spank St Mirren and us to beat Utd. That way we put plenty of distance between us and the bottom 6. The Old Firm are garbage and I actually think someone is going to take them the distance. If we show enough on Saturday (and can escape January without losing anyone) don't see any reason why it can't be us. Lose on saturday and you can write off our hopes of going the distance. Hibs of course are the main team to back for taking the squirm to the wire, but our boys should play on saturday with the belief it could be them! postiejim
Why should we fear Dundee united were as good as them ,think were a cert next week ,they have just beat celtic are unbeaten away from home so the outcome is obvious . Wellfan1984
I remember people saying that Hearts would put us to the sword after their win against Celtic - turned out Hearts are pish! Dundee United are no better than us, haven't been in the previous seasons as results between the teams show. At this moment of time I predict 2-1 us. Rickoza
I honestly think we can beat them. After all, we are the only side to have beaten them this season, and that was on their own turf!
Tweed
In January last season we went to Tannadice and they were unbeaten in 17 and we put four by them. We went to Tannadice in September and they were unbeaten this season and had just come off a good result with Celtic and we beat them. I could be wrong but I don't think they have won at FP since that mental 4-5 game and our record up there is somewhat decent - couple of defeats in McGhee's first season but on the whole recent history has not had us losing many. Of course they could beat us and are probably better than us but I think we are very capable of beating them again. We are still the only team to have beaten them this season. Looking forward to it already.
Rickoza
Everyone has their achilles throughout a season. United struggled to beat Gretna when they were still around, then Hamilton. Mebbes we are the team they struggle against, they've rarely since the eighties did anything against us of note. MJC_MKI
I could be wrong but I don't think they have won at FP since that mental 4-5 game They've beaten us once at Fir Park since then in December 2006 when they beat us 3-2. They were 2-0 up then were reduced to ten men, we got it back to 2-2 through Reynolds I think before in true Motherwell fashion, we allowed them to snatch it late on. DEWELL
I honestly cant see us winning on saturday. They'll be jubilant after today's result for them and will have Craig Levein telling them all week that the Celtic result means NOTHING if they dont beat us and after yesterday's nervy peformance against Aberdeen who aren't as good as Utd i fear we're gonna get gubbed
Tweed
Everyone has their achilles throughout a season. United struggled to beat Gretna when they were still around, then Hamilton. Mebbes we are the team they struggle against, they've rarely since the eighties did anything against us of note. There were three teams in the bottom half last season who United managed to beat once in the nine games they played (us, Killie and Accies). They have shown a bit more of a ruthless streak this season hence them only having lost once. MJC - I remembered that game but thought it was the season before. I stand corrected. However nearly three years without a home loss against a team who are consistently top six is good return.
johnstone
The only team that has beat them this season is us. Of course we can beat Dundee Utd. Just because they beat Celtic doesn't make them this team we should fear. We are doing really well this season and if we beat DU then we will be mixing it with the rest in a top of table battle. Mental I know, but lets not forget that this season Rangers and Celtic are just a tiny bit better than the rest - maybe not even that which might make this one of the best seasons in decades. If we can keep up this consistency then we just be up there come January! I say 1-0 to Motherwell. Also note to Gannon - if it ain't broke - don't fix it. What I meant was, back then, they just used to turn up and turn us over rather comfortably. In those cup games bar one they were all very close, and that league game at Fir Park will surely go down as the one big Sieb let go. Up until 94 we hadn't won at Tannadice in the League for nearly 20 years, now we do it regularly.
