East_Stand_Al
From the official site " Mark McGhee is also running the rule over trialists Byron Webster and New Zealand International Simon Elliot as he looks to add to the squad in the transfer window." Anyone know much about either of these 2 ? Am I the only one to be more than a little concerned that again we are looking at trialists similar to summer transfer window when little came of it ? Robyn
If you jump into the January Transfer Window thread theres a few opinions in there.. Simon Elliott is 34, ex-Fulham midfielder without a club for 2 and half years, although, is he the little bit more experience we need? SuperSteelman
Better than signing players on contracts to find oot they're shite Exactly, plus it makes sure they play to the best of their abilities to win a move either to us or another team. At least there is a bit of action in the transfer market and it's also good to see Klimpl staying 'till the end of the season.
gav212
Being a bit of a follower of Fulham myself i would love it if we signed Simon Elliot, very tidy player! Could perhaps begin to replace some of that experience and calmness in the middle of the park we've been lacking since we tragically lost Phil. Yir Elder
All I know about Simon Elliot is that he was freezing cold when Flow collected him at the airport! Not used to these harsh Scottish temperatures!! Personally I think its a good idea to have a look at someone rather than going purely on a recommendation, we've been caught out that way before. superward
Robyn - Simon Elliot was with Fulham until the end of last season, but was injured for all of the 07/08 season - so he has been without a club for 7 months, not 2 1/2 years. Defensive Midfielder I hear - a position which I think we are covered in to be fair!

After re-reading the article posted in the January Transfer Window thread I miss read. But still, 2 and a half years without First Team football? The former Los Angeles Galaxy and Columbus Crew player made 13 appearances for Fulham shortly after joining in January 2006, but he has now not played first-team football for two-and-a-half years. But aye, apologises anyway!
Joe Wark The Legend
From the BBC Site Blues loan keeper Krysiak to Well Krysiak has spent loan spells with Gretna, York and Swansea Motherwell have signed goalkeeper Artur Krysiak on loan from Birmingham City, extended Maros Klimpl's stay at Fir Park and are considering two trialists. Simon Elliot, released by Fulham in the summer, and FK SIAD defender Byron Webster are both looking to impress. Klimpl has only just returned from injury after his spell from Midtjylland was hit by injury, but he will now remain at Fir Park until the summer. The defender impressed filling in as a holding midfielder against Inverness. Well manager Mark McGhee said of the 28-year-old Slovakia international's display in Saturday's 3-2 win: "The great thing about him is that he can give you the option, he can play in midfield or at the back. "It's important in a small squad that you have players with versatility." Poland Under-19 international Krysiak, who made four appearances on loan to Gretna in the Scottish Premier League last season, replaces Gunnar Nielsen after the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper returned south without making a first-team appearance. It might be that we find a better goalkeeper than Graeme Smith Motherwell manager Mark McGhee The 19-year-old Krysiak, whose loan spell with York City was cut short through injury earlier in the season, is likely to be on the bench against St Mirren on Saturday. McGhee is understood to have shown an interest in Linfield and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Alan Mannus, whose contract expires in the summer, with first choice Graeme Smith having not yet agreed a contract extension beyond the end of the season. "We are always looking for good players," said the manager, whose search is being aided by goalkeeping coach Colin Meldrum. "It might be that we find a better goalkeeper than Graeme Smith. "We are always entitled as management to look to improve our team, so that's what Colin will be doing." Meanwhile, 21-year-old former York defender Webster is being given every chance to win a contract. "We've been training indoors and it's difficult to asses him but he will stay here a bit longer," said McGhee of the player contracted to FK SIAD Most but who is free to move following their relegation to the second tier of Czech football. New Zealand midfielder Elliott, 34, is a free agent. The former Los Angeles Galaxy and Columbus Crew player made 13 appearances for Fulham shortly after joining in January 2006, but he has now not played first-team football for two-and-a-half years. Well In
Elliot looks as if he could be a worthwhile addition to the team. I would imagine, unless they are some unknown talent, the others will just be squad players.
numpty
A little snippet in the Selby Times about Webster today: http://www.selbytimes.co.uk/sport/Football...well.4850532.jp Footballer on trial with Motherwell Published Date: 08 January 2009 By Charles Gardner A Selby district footballer playing for a top club in the Czech Republic is currently on a week-long trial with Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell. Byron Webster is on a winter break from his present employers, Said Most, for whom he has been playing for the past two seasons. But his contract there is not yet complete, according to his younger brother Jack. The 21-year-old former York City and Harrogate Town midfielder, of Pasture Way, South Milford, cited progress in his career as the reason he was released from the Minstermen at his own request two years ago. Keen to play more first team football, he signed for Harrogate and later won a contract for Said Most, a Premier Division club less than an hour out of Prague, near the German border. After making a promising debut for York at the end of the 2004/5 season, Byron had a lean spell at the club. Meanwhile Jack is now playing for Ossett Town after a spell with Scunthorpe Reserves. Gaag
anyone know how they are getting on? Can we field trialists in cup games?
Wellfan1984
No, trialists cannot play in Scottish Cup. Not sure if it is the same about the League Cup and the SFL allow trialists to play in the League, but I am 99.8% sure they cannot play in the Scottish Cup.
