gav212
Aye Clarkson would have been my guess too, scored 60 odd goals for us by the time he left if i remember correctly.
SuperSteelman
Aye i'd say Clarky. Sad to see him not playing down south when he should be up here doing what he does best and that's scoring goals for the 'well. We are missing him badly. Guest 'Flow
The correct figures are: 1. David Clarkson - 55 goals from 254 games (190 starts and 64 subs) 1 goals every 3.45 starts 2. Scott McDonald - 45 goals from 126 games (112 starts and 14 subs) 1 goal every 2.48 starts 3. Richie Foran - 35 goals from 105 games (89 starts and 16 subs) 1 goal every 2.54 starts 4. James McFadden - 31 goals from 70 games (58 starts and 12 subs) 1 goal every 1.87 starts 5. Chris Porter - 27 goals from 67 games (61 starts and 6 subs) 1 goal every 2.25 starts Clarky was the most prolific but Faddy was the most effective! Motherwell Football Club
You could say Faddy was more prolific.
Ya Bezzer!
Since the formation of the Premier League in the late 70's, David Clarkson is our fourth highest scorer after Stevie Kirk, Tommy Coyne and Dougie Arnott. Excluding cup goals Kirk has 63, Coyne 59 and Arnott 58. Including cup goals, which Kirk had an especially good record in, he is into the 80s. I wonder if anyone will ever overtake Kirkie? We'd probably struggle to keep hold of anyone that prolific before they got near the record. In order to do so someone would have to score 15 - 20 goals a season for five seasons. Not very likely without being snapped up by a bigger club!
niall
Aye Clarkie with 49 goals (wiki). Soon coming coming up to the anniversary of Phil's death 29th Dec 2007 . underboyleheating
This thread got me thinking about the great Willie Pettigrew's stats and according to wiki he scored 80 Gls in 146 App for the Well. If accurate (it is Wiki after all!) that's none too shabby.
brainier
The Premier started in 75/76, NOT the late 70's. From then Willie P scored 56 league and 16 cup goals for Well. Puts him a lot further up the table than earlier comments and certainly above Clarky who does top the Noughties. I reckon only Kirkie beats him and he played a lot more games. Add on Willie P's goals in the seasons before the Premier and he's comfortably ahead.

That puts Willie P ahead of everyone except Kirk on total goals but still behind Coyne and Arnott in league goals, in the premier league era at least.
