nethertonwellfan
Yes until we lose against Hamilton, Hearts and St Mirren and then cue the inevitable sack Brown thread.
Shaka
quite happy with this, better than Robbo/McCall/Chisholm/Jeffries etc . His teams dont lose much tho maybe not pretty on the eye, could be just the man to lead us thro a difficult few months First duties - Sign Ruddy on perm deal,Lukas till summer + Hateley on a new contract please
Jonesy
Whats going on now? I was out the house for an hour for God sake. Quite happy Brown is involved, but Archie Knox??? FFS jobs for the boys right enough.
Lobey_Dosser
Quite happy with the imminent arrival of Brown. Safe pair of hands that will guide us through to the end of the season. Furthermore, he has a soft spot for Motherwell and knows what we are all about. I just wish he was ten years younger. My concern lies with the future of the players though. Who is going to commit to a new contract when they don't know who the manager would be. In an ideal world, I'd like to have seen McCart come in as No 2 just now, with a view to him taking over in the summer. Too risky for McCart though to ditch his cushy number at Celtic. Tweed
If you'd offered me Brown before the Q and A night I'd have laughed but his knowledge of the game and his philosophy of the game on that night impressed me. He also likes us and has a bit of affection for us and I'm sure would not shaft us. He also has a good track record with Scotland and was steady if unspectacular at Preston (everything else was before my time so therefore invalid!). Quite excited if this comes to pass. If this is a stop gap until the end of the season it will mean at the start of next season at the age of 28 I will have seen half of all Motherwell managers ever. That is scary! Shallow Dave
69??This'll be some shift SAF will be 69 this New Year's Eve. Whilst he undoubtedly polarises opinions, I'd argue that Ferguson is still doing a very good job at the highest level in football. Brown at Motherwell should be a skoosh in comparison. Yir Elder
If this comes off then fine by me, should steady the ship and get the players playing again.
Wellfan1984
As it's official now, no it's not a dream team, but this could be what Walter Smith/Ally McCoist was to Rangers. A pair that could steady the ship and get us going forward again. Although if he does well I hope he'll be given maybe a 2-3 year contract. cossiemfc
I'm happy with this just now. They have got the experiance in the game and gives John Boyle time to appoint the right manager.
Malky79
Hopefully a safe pair of hands, I daresay we could have done worse. Some decent man management alone should be enough to get more out of this squad. Just hope with the transfer window coming up not operating with hands tied. Also hope that Brown doesn't turf out the younger lads that have showed up well, Hutchison, Murphy and Forbes despite the latters poor form lately he clearly showed that their is a good player in there if can harness his talent and improve on his fitness. Ya Bezzer!
I think this really depends on how long Craig Brown is being asked to come in for. Obviously its a interim measure but for how long? With the transfer window coming up we really want to have however is going to be manager in May at the club so he can do the business that he wants to do. If the club said Brown was going to be manager until the end of the season I wouldn't be unhappy with that, likewise if we get someone in quite quickly on a permanent basis with Brown only taking over for a few games. However it might be a mistake if we appoint someone with the transfer window by or not open for long for any new manager. I'm just looking at the BBC site now and it says Brown will come in for 3 games.
stoney
if they are saying that he will come in for 3 games does that mean that JB might already have someone in place to take the job but that manager needs a few weeks to either feck up the club he is with during the window, if its another spl manager, or to get to a certain point in his contract to let us get him for less ? Wellfan1984
According to Craig Brown there is no set amount of games. Boyle is in Australia at the moment. So it could be longer, it could be shorter. I guess it depends how the next few games go.
cooper_no1
This is a great appointment in the short term especially if there is some issues with players etc. At the end of the day it's two guys with a wealth of experience at club and international level who know how to steady a ship. The genius here i believe is Archie Knox being involved, any players with a petted lip can forget about it because he's notorious as the sort of charachter that'll stand for no pish and he's coached players at the highest level with all sorts of personalities. I don't think they are the long term managerial way forward however over a difficult few weeks when an SPL future could potentially be won or lost i don't think there were two better men out there to take the club forward - no risks, nothing exciting just two guys who'll get the job done - afterall, that's what Motherwell need right now.
