numpty
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/yb/139645292 Fergie Fell Foul of Craig's Wind-Up RadioBy Neil Cameron CRAIG BROWN'S Scottish Cup CV includes winding up Sir Alex Ferguson on the radio. And that is an even braver feat than his Motherwell team trying to battle through the harsh weather to reach Inverness for Saturday's cup tie. The Fir Park interim manager joked yesterday that if the Caley Thistle match is called off "at least he couldn't get beat" although he would love the game to go ahead. And if he gets one over on Terry Butcher's men it will be another anecdote for him totell. Brown said: "My last Scottish Cup tie was in 1986 when I was at Clyde, a few years ago, although we actually had a good record against the bigger teams. "I did an interview for Northsound radio a few days before we played Aberdeen back in the early 1980s. "I told the guy interviewing me we hadn't rolled the pitch for three weeks and were going to use a Dunlop ball for the game. I threw that in because I knew Jim Leighton hated it because it gave him so many problems. "Fergie hears this up in Aberdeen and is on the phone right away asking if I was "f*****g at the wind-up'. "I had to tell him I was hardly going to make it easy for Dons. He sent Willie Garner all the way down to check up on the pitch. We still lost 2-1. "We also took Rangers to a replay at Ibrox when John Greig was manager and Sandy Jardine played. "It was 0-0 with eight minutes to go and wee John McDonald scored twice. We were part-time and just ran out of steam a bit." So Brown knows the underdog always has a chance, not that he considers Caley Thistle minnows. He said: "This won't be easy. For a long time Inverness looked as if they would stay in the SPL last season and only went down on the final day. "Their team is full of guys you would consider Premier League class who will fancy beating us. There is a lot of experience there. Terry is an honest big guy and he and Maurice Malpas will have their players prepared for what I'm sure is going to be acracking tie. "I just hope the games gets played. The A9 has been shut but we were always going to take the train up on Friday, although there have been problems there as well. All we can do is wait and see. "All I know is that we are here on an interim basis and have been asked to hold the ship if you like. "Archie Knox and myself have enjoyed it but we're frustrated with the weather." Brown watched his players beat junior side Bellshill Athletic 11- 1 in a friendly yesterday and was delighted to give his side a workout after the cancellation of last weekend's derby against Hamilton Accies. He said: "We scored a lot of goals but the main objective of the fixture was a fitness exercise. "The lads responded well in that regard as we asked them to cram 90 minutes worth of work into 45, with two separate teams playing in either half. "They performed really well and I must compliment all the players for doing everything we asked of them. "But I also want to pay tribute to Bellshill because their attitude was terrific. They didn't resort to anything unsavoury as can often happen when you shift a few goals and become frustrated. "I spoke to their manager Danny Drew and complimented his side for their effort and commitment." © 2010 Daily Record; Glasgow (UK). Provided by ProQuest LLC. All rights Reserved.
