Finlay
Won't happen for two reasons. I don't think Killie are in a sound financial position to sack any manager and we won't pay the kind of money needed to get him out of his contract. Squirrelhumper
YES YES YES!!! Don't listen to the press pish that he's got no money, I was at the AGM in December and his budget has INCREASED twice in past two seasons. He has a budget higher than St Mirren, Hamilton, St Johnstone, Motherwell and Falkirk. I'll personally pay for his taxi to Motherwell if you want him.... Squirrelhumper
That is a surprise. Do you have the money to punt him though? Here is what another fan posted on Killiefc.com and I agree 100% with it. "Johnston is running the club into the ground by making silly cuts all over the place and not making any effort to attract fans or investment. He is also turning the club into a laughing stock with all these recent revelations. Jefferies is being portrayed as some sort of managerial genius by the media as usual. I'm not sure if it's ignorance on their part, or whether JJ has friends in the media circles, but he always gets an extremely easy ride. Despite what the press would have you believe with their talk of constant cuts, he actually had his budget increased in each of the last two seasons, although it was cut back a bit again this season. He has also been given significant transfer funds to spend recently (reported fees of £100k for Pascali, £50k for Sammon, £20k for Gibson), and was given extra funds last January to sign Kyle. It can't be easy to work under a buffoon of a chairman, but he is simply not doing anything like as well as he could at the moment. The sad thing is, had he left a couple of years ago, he would probably be regarded as an excellent Killie manager. After a difficult start, he built a great team which played some nice football and also got results. He developed Naismith's talents in the first team, and turned him into a £2m player and a Scotland international. He also led us to consecutive top six finishes and a cup final (the less said about the actual match, the better). The dreadful performances and the less attractive, and less effective football we have produced in the last couple of seasons have ruined the reputation he had built for himself, and the majority of fans will probably now only remember him for that. I suggested that he should have left after the Gretna season, which would have been the ideal time because his stock amongst the Killie fans would still have been high. Instead he was offered a long-term deal, and after a struggle with relegation last season, we look set for the same again this time around. This season has been worse in many ways, and unless something changes on the field soon, we will go down. I think the biggest problem we are suffering from is stagnation. There is nothing to excite the fans. A new manager, a new chairman, or even the introduction of an exciting youth player (he doesn't even have to be good) would go a long way to solve that. These stories suggest that JJ may soon be on his way out, but while I think his time is well and truly up now, I worry about who we would end up with as his replacement. Finlay
Interesting and pretty relevant read, Squirrelhumper. For what it's worth a Killie supporting mate thinks Gordon Chisholm is the next man to get the job if JJ goes soonish. Right now, with a choice between the two, I'd rather have Chisholm as well. Inthebasement
I'm told by a colleague that knows him that Jeffries is a gent, and twice as funny as you'd imagine. That said, no thanks. Not Boyle's style anyway. It's plain we should give J&V til summer and assess it then. Craig Brown is a class act and deserves at least that chance. He has went to the press moaning about the club on 2 or 3 occasions, which isn't doing any good. He is on in excess of £2,000 a week.
