Guest 'Flow
Another terrific display on Saturday - his save from Mensing's header the latest world-class stop! 12 clean-sheets from 24 SPL games this campaign... Is he the best we've ever had? He's certainly the best in the twenty years I've been watching the 'Well!
Frazzie
I think I'm now getting to the stage where I have to admit he's a better goalkeeper than Seib, but I think folk will probably side with the Dutchman due to his 'cult hero' status. If Ruddy swings on the bar at some point, he will have eclipsed the big man all ends up.
johnstone
To good for us to keep I'm afraid. Chris Woods was keeping an eye on him on Saturday. I think he might be in an Everton shirt next season. If he keeps us this form then there is no chance of us holding onto him.
MelvinBragg
I don't see him playing for Everton next season to be honest with you. They've agreed a deal to sign some keeper in the summer and Howard is still an excellent keeper. But as he's out of contract next summer, I suspect Everton will be selling him this summer. To pockets deeper than ours. I reckon we'll see him in the Premiership in a couple of years time playing for one of the lesser lights. To the original point, is he the best we've ever had? Like Frazzle, still have a soft spot for Sieb Dykstra, so if I'm to say he's the best we've had it would be grudgingly...
fatcalf
Sieb was a cult figure aye, but not as good as the misty eyed among us like to make out. I loved him, even got Sieb T-shirts made up to honour him but his actual ability was surpassed by his mythical image.
MelvinBragg
Aye, when I picture Sieb, he's standing over Alan Lawrence giving him dog's abuse for diving. He was by no stretch a bad keeper, but probably should feature more in lists of "Favourite" players rather than "Best" players...
underboyleheating
Ruddy is a great keeper but the best I’ve seen in a Motherwell shirt was local Lanarkshire boy Keith MacRae.
Modernist
He's easily the best keeper I've seen at Fir Park. Too young to have seen KM personally.

underboyleheating
Ruddy (6ft 4"?) along with Peter McCloy (6ft 4"?) is one of the tallest keepers we’ve had. Although Sieb I think may hold the crown at around 6ft 5".
Ernie
I liked Keith Bad move to go to Man City when he did. I totally agree. McRae should have never gone to Shitty when he did another year or two with us would have been better for him. He is probably the best that I saw over almost 40 years but Ruddy is beginning to make inroads toward that claim. 14 clean sheets in a season is pretty good for at any level. casey
Ruddy definately up there with the best of them. Just a pity we'll only have him for one season. Remember seeing Keith McCrae making great penalty save against Aberdeen at FP and he also saved one at Celtic just before he left.
Finlay
Quite surprised how quickly Buzz has been forgotten and the fact he was excellent for us last year. The truth is, fantastic saves, 12 shut outs, etc. aside Ruddy has made more mistakes this season already than Buzz did in the entire 2008-2009 campaign. That view point will likely not be popular on here but it is the truth. Ruddy is an excellent keeper, no doubt, but sadly when he has made a mistake (admittedly not many) it has been against the better teams. Two games against Rangers and Hibs at FP were the most notable. For me Buzz is still the best keeper we have had this Century, however if we kept Ruddy for another couple of years I do agree there could more than likely be a new number one. I can't say I completely agree with you there Finlay - he wasn't at fault against the h**s last week, although you're right about the Hibs game and he had a shocker at Ibrox. Also felt he made an arse of one of the Bucharest goals. However, the fact that I can count his errors on one hand after approx. 30 games, not to mention countless game-saving wonder stops is pretty impressive for a Motherwell goalie. Whilst not the main culprit I feel there was a lack of communication between himself and Reynolds that certainly led to the goal. No mistake, Ruddy is an excellent keeper and one of the best we have ever had but I also believe Buzz (although he had his weaknesses) is up there too. For me, at this time, 8 months can't surpass the 4 years we had of Buzz. Not yet anyway
siebsbarmyarmy
I'm a massive fan of Sieb but I must admit for an alround goalkeeper I would have to say Ruddy is the best keeper I have ever seen in a Well shirt. Excellant shot stopper, great with cross balls and has a good physical presence. Think it would be excellant business by the club to keep him for another couple of years. Maybe a deal similar to Hughes and Porter's would make the club a nice little profit. Cant see it happening but you never know.
Malky79
Still big Sieb for me, Ruddy pulling alongside fast though. Single best Motherwell goalie performances in match at Fir Park against the h**s for Sieb might be about all there is between them, well that and the swinging on the bar and the pornstar tache. Despite the odd clanger from Sieb felt he commanded his box better, but Ruddy is pretty solid and though as pointed out had a good few clangers himself this season they do appear to disappearing the more he playing. postiejim
The big ?. Is there anyway we can sign this guy ,i don't think that there's a snowballs chance in hell he will be here next season , weve missed out on a great keeper and a great investment. Steve Diggle
Ruddy is the best 'well keeper I've seen. He's a fair bit ahead of Sieb in my opinion. I think my first games at Fir Park were the last couple that Keith McRae played and the older fellas remember him as an excellent stopper. To introduce Graeme Smith into the same conversation is a bit strange. He had his moments but he ain't in the same league as the others. Motherwell Seagull
Am too young to remember KM - the first keeper I really remember was Hugh Sproat, who seemed to prefer playing full back than goalkeeper. Perhaps through rose tinted spectacles, but I think Maxwell is possibly the best keeper I have seen in the C&A, although its hard not to think about big Sieb at the same time - though as others have said, perhaps more for his character, than his actual ability. Now I come to think about it - we have no exactly been blessed with keepers over the years!

In recent games he's cleaned up most of his own errors, Saturday being prime example. People seem to forget that Buzz made many a world class save in his time. I think people get the wrong impression because Ruddy comes out to take the ball more than any 'keeper we've had in recent times.
well-army
Finlay sorry but I have to disagree Buzz was not a great keeper. Big Sieb was probably tye best i've seen at FP closely followed by Ruddy and Maxwell.
WellTiliDie
Graeme Smith is nowhere near the standard of Ruddy. Smith was a wonderful shot stopper but other than that he was terrible at kicking and coming for crosses. Ruddy has the potential to go all the way in the game and i wouldn't be surprised to see him as Englands number 1 in the next 5 years. How have we missed out if we haven't actually signed him? If we continue this form and do make it into Europe then Ruddy might stay on, but: A - would he want to stay with us. B - could Motherwell risk paying big money for a player. I still think if he keeps up this form then I think Everton would find it hard to to look at him as a first choice keeper. Also his defence was as nervous as fuck with him around due to his complete inability to handle crosses into the box. We lost loads of goals that way. Granted he was excellent as shot stopping, but in the air he was terrible.
