el-pidge
Pretty sure that in Leannes beeb interview she said we had only just done the budget. Dont think we budget from the start of a season. Makes sense too. Better to budget when you have a clearer view of where the team will finish
Finlay
Boyle seeking some from of compensation mechanism to be put in place. Story from the Beeb Interesting that he says: "The problem is that this has had catastrophic effects on Motherwell's finances. We made a loss last year; this year, we were heading towards a small but decent profit and that's been completely blown out the window because, obviously, you budget for a Celtic or a Rangers game and, hopefully, if it's an important one, it can be a big money-spinner." I thought we budgeted for a 11th place finish and early cup-exits. This suggest we now expect to be a top six side. Granted the league is full of utter rubbish like Killie etc. but still, ity could lead to nervous times, especially if we get player/manager recruitment wrong at some stage. Sent a text in today to Off the Ball on the very subject. John Boyle was one of the guests. My question was whether we would suffer when it comes to negotiating players contracts ie Jennings and Hateley or whether the inevitable sale of Reynolds is being taken into account and will take care of these matters. Reynols point was neatly sidestepped but he did concede the players contracts would be impacted a bit and they have scheduled a board meeting for Monday to discuss this and other matters. Onthefringes
Anybody had a reply to their email? Just dropped in my inbox... Fraser, Thanks for your email. I note your comments and can understand your frustration. However, I find it surprising that you do not see an excellent chance of European football and an extra home game against Hibernian as a benefit of being in the top six. The limitations of the split means fixtures sometimes have to be reversed and, on occasion, a club will have 18 home games and 20 away games or vice versa. In terms of matches being moved, the TV cameras can visit a ground a maximum of six times in a season which strikes a balance between the wishes of the broadcasters and the need to maintain Saturday afternoon football for the supporters. Motherwell had four TV games before the split and two after it. One of these is a midweek. This season, due to the early finish imposed by FIFA due to the World Cup, we have had additional midweek cards but there will less pressure on the fixture card in 2010/11, fixtures for which will be published on June 17. I think they call it in the business... He finds it surprising that I don't see a chance of European football? Here's what I asked of him... Yet, clearly on this occasion we look to have been penalised and then some. I believe our rivals for the at stake European places have been granted an unfair advantage with this unequal set of fixtures, makes a mockery of the term 'competition', wouldn't those in power agree? And, especially for ourselves, after we have, against the odds, earned the right to another home fixture with one of the Old Firm, failure to now qualify for European competition invites more financial downturn. Has me feeling the reward would have been actually finishing in a bottom 6 berth! More than one home fixture against other sides who are fighting for their lives with larger crowds as a result... C*nt. Highest order.

LadywellToi
So ...... "Shit happens wee provincial team, you have to understand Celtic and their substantially bigger influence and fan base call the shots because I can assure you, over the course of a week I personally have more interaction with Old Firm fans and to unfairly treat MFC causes me far less hassle and abuse. I would add in the past 5 years or so, Celtic haven't been adversely affected by the split, however Rangers have twice, I still find it funny how the unwashed support claim conspiracy when it suits them. I also can't comment if they put unfair influence on a return to Fir Park by their criticism of Falkirk FC's pitch earlier in the season, which I can tell you was designed to take away from the woeful management of Tony Mowbray and to a greater extent, the board for appointing him. So dry your eyes little team, you have a third home game against the team with the worst form of late, however you can kiss the £150k you could expect from what everyone would expect as being a reward for finishing in the top six goodbye. Oh yes and don't forget, we'll move both your two remaining games from Saturday's at 3pm further impacting on your commercial revenues." Cue Dr Evil laugh. fatcalf
A prime example of how to answer a question without actually answering the question put.
