Ian-in-Oz
Finnbogason is the best player in Iceland at the moment. He is 20 years old and finished the 3rd highest scorer in the Premiership with 13 goals in 18 games last seasn. This season the manager has chosen, because of his footballing brain and passing abilities, to deploy him as the playmaker in most games but he still scores goals and is currently 3rd in the topscoring charts with 5 goals in 8 games. This will be his last season in Iceland. He will go onto bigger things after this season. I already pointed out on the Europa thread that this guy looks like a dangerman so if i can spot that then surely Brown can to & have a plan to contain him. I think the Icelanders are more confident about this tie than we are especially coz we will be very rusty. Bliki do you happen to know of any good goalkeepers in your league that are up for sale as the two we've got are mince
cambo97
No thats Kjartan Henry Finnbogason who now plays for the scum KR Reykjavik. Our Finny is miles better, I would not bet against Motherwell offering him a trial after seeing him in action. He's a very talented player and very young. Now onto the beer, its much more expensive for us than you guys. Our Krona has collapsed since the Economic Crisis and its much cheaper to visit Iceland now than lets say 2 years ago. Maybe we should offer him a trial before the game, say the two weeks from 12 - 26 July.
Welldaft Mk1
10 in albania I know you are fiercely proud of that statistic Decorator and rightly so. But you are forgetting one thing and that is that all away supports in Europe are calculated using the Seville calculation method, which basically doubles the amount of away support
LadywellToi
Apparently the other half in Seville were supporting a team called "Sellik Ya Bass" sounds Turkish to me.

Rickoza
Motherwell v Cirrostratus Cloud . Cirrostratus - thin, high, wide and generally unexciting.

That's pretty much whats been said on here too.
Juan Kerse
Motherwell v Cirrostratus Cloud . Cirrostratus - thin, high, wide and generally unexciting. Noticed that as well!! Take it that is there nickname, like Steelmen. Wonder if our Icelandic pal can enlighten us to what it is all about!!

Wonder if our Icelandic pal can enlighten us to what it is all about!! I read the name Breidablik comes from Norse mythology so it probably roughly translates as 'heaven' or something to do with the Gods 'up on high' - or 'ladder' if you use Google translator. Cirrostratus is Greek and literally just means "wispy layer".
Guest
Might seem a daft question, but whats the weather likely to be like? Am I taking thermals or a kilt?

Rickoza
Ye'd be surprised. Can get surprisingly warm even that far North. The record high for Reykjavik is 23C (73F). However, in saying that, 10 day forecast has an average of about 14C (57F) and not particularly dry. Anything beyond 10 days is really guess work, but it be unlikely to be much different. Special aka
I don't think this will be an easy tie tho I am looking forward to the match Don't see it being easy either. As I said in an earlier post, it does have a Mypa feel about it. They are rolling in their domestic league and we are still trying to secure the services of a decent keeper and several outfield players. Rickoza
Breidablik are winning 3-1 away to UMF Selfoss tonight and will go joint top of the Icelandic League. This is going to be one tough, tough couple of games and I doubt we could've got a more difficult draw. However, that's not to say we can't do this, just going to have to be at our best I feel. Welldaft Mk1
This is going to be one tough, tough couple of games and I doubt we could've got a more difficult draw. Not sure I agree with that. Their Uefa co-efficient is marginally above Bangor City. That probably has more to do with them not having played in Europe before and Iceland's co-efficient. Still when all is said and done they are a part time outfit. This has all the hallmarks of Mypa 47, except we should not be so naive this time around. They will be a decent team and used to winning, but I still think we ought to win by a couple of goals over the two legs. That is of course assuming our key players play well enough on the night(s) and defend better than we did in the last few games of last season. I still think this tie suits us better than travelling to some far flung country like Moldova or Montenegro where the temp is 30 degrees +
Finlay
Very hard games due to the different stages of our seasons but I still expect us to win through.
Bliki
Well yes we are now top of the league and we are in with a great chance to win our first ever premier league title. However there are fears that could be ruined come August as our top players are being linked with a move. Tonight scouts from teams in Germany, England, Holland and Italy were at the game watching the likes of Kristinn Steindorsson (who scored 2 goals), Alfreð Finnbogason and Arnór Aðalsteinsson. To give you some glimpse of how the Icelandic teams are fairing at the moment. Well last week 2 Icelandic clubs participated in Europe. Fylkir currently in 9th place in the league lost 3-0 away to Torpedo Zhodino in Belarussia. Torpedo are last in the Belarussian league. KR Reykjavik (currently in the 8th place in the Icelandic league) hosted N-Irish club Glentoran and won 3-0 at home. The score should have been much higher with KR being the much better side, hitting the post 2 times and the Glentoran goalie making great saves.
