AndyRoss
Aw naw! The problems of being in the group stages! £1.70 a pie is standard, if not cheaper than the rest of the SPL. Its nae a charity, how many times has it to be pointed out that for the club to reduce prices would be suicidal. Just wanted them to stay the same though mate. Kmcalpin
Dundee Utd fans haven't laid out £30 for the two previous rounds we have had and Celtic will get 30,000+ whatever they charge so using them as examples won't change the fact that our reward for turning out for the previous rounds is an extra fiver at the gate So if Dundee United qualify for the group stages you're expecting them to reduce prices to £15 to reward loyal fans? That just isn't going to happen. I'd like to think that our club would charge no more than £5 full whack for the Odense home tie but I know that just isn't on. Sadly, we live in the harsh world of football finances.
Yir Elder
I really believe that the club should've rewarded the fans who've shelled out for two games already, having paid for season tickets too. I know its a high profile game and we compare favourably in prices to Shellic and United, but as mjw pointed out this is our third game already. Fans' budgets are being stretched to the very limit here, and the SPL season hasn't even started yet! I also cannot work out why there's no OAP price available. I'd love an answer to that one. Diehards like me and most of us here will buy or tickets regardless, but how many folk will hold off until after the first leg depending on the result? Its putting even more pressure on the players to keep the tie competitive if the crowd deviates by a few thousand. Folk with kids and some floating supporters are what we need to ensure a good crowd. We charged £15 for Nancy's visit, so why are the club risking a poorer crowd by charging 33% more? Disappointed I have to say.
dennyc
Well said Stuwell. Good to see some common sense being shown and some reality brought to the debate. The club are not ripping off the vast majority of us. You regularly pay more to watch games as away fans at places like Tannadice. The only valid complaint is that there is no concession for OAPs. Hopefully the club will read this thread and sort that out as that would be fair and the cost would be minimal. Or perhaps we should just let everyone in for free and watch the club we love go to the wall.

There's the argument over whether cheaper entry would be likely to bring more floaters in, I think it probably would, but if the tie is still alive by the 2nd leg people will pay the £20 anyway. And as I pointed out at the start, and several others have since, it's more expensive for pretty much every away gate in the SPL. We as fans do not HAVE to go to every game home and away regardless of where in Scotland or Europe it is, we do not HAVE to buy a programme, a pie or a pint before the game. To say you've already spent X amount cos we've had X games and X pies so a fiver increase is shocking, is, well, invalid. The club, funnily enough, is not out to get us and fleece us for all we're worth.
Steelmen
If people are complaining about an extra fiver, just wait until we get the group games... it'll be £25-£30 per game for that. I can see peoples points about the extra £5 and removing the OAP's price (which is really strange) but this is the "play off" round of the competition so £20 is more that acceptable a price for this esp when you take the prices Utd and Celtic are charging. I am sure if we can bring them back with a chance of going through, Fir Park will be packed like the Nancy game. It would be nice to get the clubs thinking behind this increase though, sraight after they tell us about the sponsor. Lee
mjw
They charge more during the SPL season to watch big names like Inverness, St Mirren, Kilmarnock................., dont see what the big deal is really. Its everyones own finances and choice so at the end of the day if you dont want to pay the prices dont go. If you can't afford it get to fuck is that what being a Motherwell fan has come to? mon_da_well
Very disappointed that the club have raised the prices and not offered any type of concession tickets for those who might need them. Just shows that every time the club look like they're on form behind the scenes they are always able to fuck that right up.
pingu
If you can't afford it get to fuck is that what being a Motherwell fan has come to? Cheapest season tickets in the SPL for years. What do you want the club to do?! It's a business and has to keep functional. That means charging its fans. Just be thankful you don't go somewhere like Leeds, who didn't reduce their home gates prices for the time they were in League 1, so you were paying in the region of £35 i believe to watch dross like Leeds v Exeter. Shaka
We as fans do not HAVE to go to every game True, however the Club apparently want a full house so we can all support the boys, bumping prices up by another £5 is a funny way of showing it. We have the choice of going, the argument here is surely its better (financially + atmospherically) to get 8/9000 at £15 than 5/6000 at £20? Odense isnt a glamour game, most average joes may never have heard of them before, surely these are the guys we NEED to attract! Coming down from Inverness before was £110 for tickets + petrol alone and now our reward is another £20 added on top? not a huge amount but still poor craic, Still what else can we expect when the club arent even capable of securing a fucking shirt sponsor

Yep- but stupid c***s like the majority of us on here will still pay the prices. A high profile match such as this is the perfect opportunity to try and entice some new fans through the gates. Fleece the core support or try and expand that support by making ticket costs a bit of an incentive. It's obvious which decision the club has made. What I dont get though, is there any reason WHY prices have to rise?
mwellhighland
Plus I would like to return to Bucharest for more free drink at the Novotel Casino . How did you get free booze? Think I paid like £4 in there but £1.20 in pubs Could someone tell me where the rip off is? At £20 I thing that our price is OK overall although I would have liked to have seen a concession for OAP’s. Missing the point...it's the fact they've raised the prices from last round

If the score is say 1-1 or 2-1 to them after the first game, only the really principled or completely skint won't be coming, so we could have your 8/9000 anyway. I see both sides and it's a fine line, it just boils my piss when people go down the 'I-pay-every-game-and-buy-a-programme-and-5-pints-and-a-pie-a-mars-bar-and-a-bovril-and-the-club-just-made-me-buy-the-new-£45-shirt-for-me-and-my-kid' line. halfpint
Well i was looking forward to going to this, however i can no longer afford it! Im on stat maternity pay at the mo which isnt alot, and having a baby isnt cheap, so all my money counts. Having already paid out £60 for the previous 2 games and now another £40 which is £100 in just over - what 5 weeks just isnt finacially viable for me at the mo, so sorry Motherwell but you've lost 2 fans here!! Chris
BUT if we can keep it alive then I think people will pay it anyway. What people? The 3 or so thousand that attend SPL matches against Inverness? I'm pretty confident that the majority of folk with little/moderate interest in Motherwell who went to the last two ties will not fork out £20 a head to come to a tie against non-descript opposition. foghorn
Reasonable price for this stage of Europe IMO and I am sure it was gauged against other clubs charges in a similar position. Fine balance to be struck and you will never please everyone. Keeping the deal for families in the Cooper is still good value and yes pies and crisps are expensive at football, but also at the Cinema or Theatre. Apart from your entry fee you have a choice of how much more you want to spend.

It's not laughable. Dundee Utd and Celtic play in the same league as us. Celtic are better and Dundee Utd are around the same level in terms of the football on the pitch. I would also argue that an SPL team Europa League tie (ie us v Odense) is at a higher level on the pitch than any of Leeds' League 1 fixtures last year. I really don't know how you can say that. I wouldn't presume to speak for our fans fair weather or die hard. Odense are one of the best teams in Denmark and for those with a genuine interest in football and who can afford it I would reckon it would be an attractive match. What would you class as attractive opposition incidentally? I genuinely don't know what the financial effect of increasing admission by a fiver will be and I suspect most fans don't either. SuperSteelman
I don't think this will affect the crowd at all, there will be a bigger crowd and the place will be bouncing. The bigger the game the dearer it is to get in, that's just the way it is and always will be, i think the prices are very fair.
