Heading to Scotland for a wedding in April and was, obviously, looking to catch the Well in action if poss. (Just to prove I am a real fan and that  ).

Was looking to fly in around the 25th or so but I only see fictures up to the 16th April. I take it this is due to the ridiculous split? So we won't know until that week really who we will be playing or where?

Have I got that right?

Post split dates are April 23 and 30, May 7, 11 and 15th mate.

Guess you're going to have to make flexible plans around those dates Haggis

MEH! :)

I hate how this "ridiculous" split is constantly put down,

It is a vital part of our system, and will be after reconstruction probably.

It adds excitement to what usually are shitey boring games

you are absolutely right Busta - but did we not have a ridiculous scenario a few years back where we were 7th but ended up with more points than the team in 6th (Hibs??)??

Fixed that, no-one will ever convince me the split is a good idea. It's an aberration and reduces our fixtures to farce when folk can't even organise a trip to watch a game until 7 days before the game.

If the split is so good why has NO OTHER league in Europe got it ??

It's the only time to blood young talent into the SPL end of season playing diddy teams like Accies and St. Midden, when were are safe are they are struggling

Ireland, Belguim, Cyprus, Greece and a few more have a split

While, countries like Macedonia, Albania and many more have a home/away round robbin then decide the third round of fixtures depending on where everyone is after the first two sets.

It's happened a few times, but it would only be ridiculous if every team had played the same number of games against the same opposition, which of course they hadn't.

Personally, as long as we have the split, I'd maybe rather they just split the league into two groups proper when the time comes, instead of pretending that everybody's still playing in the same league afterwards. Perhaps even start the bottom team in each group on zero points, with the other teams' points adjusted accordingly. At least that would stop people moaning about the fact that the team in 7th occasionally ends up with more points than the team in 6th (as if that really makes any difference, when everybody knows and understands that it might happen before a ball is even kicked).

The split is a load of shite and makes our league a laughing stock.

The quality of the football on display is what makes our league a laughing stock. I seriously doubt that most fans of other leagues outwith the UK, or even outwith Scotland, actually know or care that we have a split.

In Israel (and Greece maybe) they half points - one league I think only take points over from teams in that "group" as well. Something like that should be done. Saying that places like Cyprus etc. split it into three etc one for Champions Group, Mid-table Group and Relegation Group. With the mid-table group not playing for anything apart from, playing games.

I listened to Talk Sport around the split last season, they were pissing themselves. They thought that it made our league even more mickey mouse. No one who phoned in could explain exactly why we have the split.

True, but that's not just down to the SPL. For a bigger league to work, we'll need the SFL and the SJFA on board. We could possible entice the SFL, but the SJFA are happy the SFA gave in and gave them Scottish Cup spots. They'll never ruin their cosy little set-up to become part of Scottish Senior Football.

But people that say the split doesn't happen, or work elsewhere are wrong. It happens a lot.

If we cared what other leagues did then we'd allow reserve teams in league systems, force the SFJA to join the pyramid, have playoffs, that in theory are exciting but very unfair to those who have been better in the league season etc.

Way too many cooks (with their own agendas) spoiling the broth
