postiejim
Brown also updated motherwellfc.co.uk on yesterday’s bounce game with Hearts at Riccarton. The Steelmen ran out 2-1 winners courtesy of goals from Esteban Casagolda and Nick Blackman and Brown heaped praise on the fringe players bursting a gut to get into the team. The 70-year-old said, “We don’t normally make too big a fuss about these bounce games, which is quite deliberate as they are often experimental. “But I must pay tribute to our lads; they were superb. Both our goals were absolutely terrific. Casagolda burst through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and lobbed a beautiful effort into the net. The second, from Blackman, was a carbon copy of Lukas Jutkiewicz’s against Hibs at the tail end of last season. “We are getting better and better performances from our fringe lads. Jonathan Page, for example is certainly benefitting from the increased exposure to first-team football and Lee Hollis looked assured and safe in goals. We are hopeful these guys, along with the others, can start staking a claim for a regular start in the first-team. “We also tried one or two players in different positions and they did well. We’ve now got some things to think about ahead of the game with St Johnstone on the 11th September.”
underboyleheating
Any victory against the Jambos is welcome, even bounce games. Good to see the two new boys on the score sheet.

Rickoza
Would love to have seen it though, I can imagine Jovial Jeffries was as purple as ever at the end.
Malky79
Fucking hope the fringe players are coming on as in dire need of few faces coming through!
orange county dosser
good to hear that both Blackman and Casagolda got on the scoresheet with "impressive" sounding goals !! maybe its not all doom and gloom then ?
fergi4
"We also tried one or two players in different positions and they did well. We've now got some things to think about ahead of the game with St Johnstone on the 11th September." Apparently the new position for Forbes was a piggyback on Hutchinson, and sure as god the club have never seen Forbes look so fast in a match! Seriously though, would be good if someone could find out who played in new positions that Brown seems to speak positively about
Tweed
Might also be good if Derek McInnes didn't.
Finlay
This talk of players in new positions just looks like a way of telling the fans that we have depth and that is why no one got signed. Or we better find someone in the squad to play on the wing as we cannae afford anyone else. Let us hope Hutchinson can run at folk and beat them with ease. The phrase, "weak effort at placating fans," springs to mind. Hope I'm wrong but reckon we signed no one as we are skint and were relying on a decent bid for Reynolds. As said earlier seriously do hope the current pessimism is premature and the younger boys/fringe players can come into reckoning and make a positive impact as we definately look short on the surface.
