johnnyjay
After our 1st game following Brown's departure, I know we shouldn't panic at last nights defeat given that Hearts are probably the form tteam in the league, however with Aberdeen on Saturday followed by the Old Firm we could find ourselves in the bottom 6 at the turn of the year. Blackman will most definately be away (looked disinterested last night appart from his booking for the refs shocking decision, Jennings is now under scruitiny fior irregular betting, Craigan/Reynolds are struggling for form, Gow only shows flashes of form( and will likley move on in January). Humphreys looked lost last night as did Murphy. Only player with pass marks last night was Lasley. Kind of think some players raised there game for Brown and Knox and think some of them will lack motivation if we dont get a new man with inspiration in soon. I'm worried that the last 12 good months we have seen under Brown will be in vain and we may end up with a mediocre season, possibly scrapping with St Mirren, St johnstone Hamilton istead of utd, Jambos etc . It is imperative that some stability is brought to the club asap, otherwise I feel we may be heading for the slippery slope.
Haggischomper
Rustiness not play a part?
numpty
Mediocre seasons are part and parcel of being a 'Well fan... just makes the good ones even better. We had plenty of them under Tommy McLean too, and that was the most "stable" period of our recent history. The only thing that would worry me would be the prospect of relegation, and I'd say there's next to no danger of that this year.
nethertonwellfan
Come on man it was a bad day at the office that's all!
Burn_Broomfield
Rustiness not play a part? Tbh, it did seem to run a bit deeper than that with some of the players.
johnnyjay
No doubt rustiness played its part, and I have no doubt that we would have won on the original date with Brown in charge, but he is no longer there and we cannot underestimate the influence he had. We need someone in who is going to inspire and command the same respect immediately, in order that we keep the standards high. my concer is be bring in a "rebuilder" who wants to shape the team in his own image, like McGhee tried at Aberdeen and failed dramatically(remember he took over a decent side from Caldwewood). I hope last night was just a blip. Relelegation will not happen this year (?) but if the league goes down to 10 next, will we be stable enough to challenge in the top half as we have been doing consistently for the last few years. Seen this all before in my 40 years supporting the Well, this time however recent times have raised our expectations and hieghtened our standards and I for one need to be confident that the new guy coming in continues the recent feel good factor at Fir Park. fizoxy
It's just one game, and is Jennings under investigation? I missed that bit.
Easy Target
Who's Humphreys?
Dead Star
Who's Humphreys? I was 9 minutes too slow. Maybe the players aren't trying because we aren't taking time TO LEARN THEIR FUCKING NAMES.
Coolhandluc
I certainly don't think there was a lack of commitment. Rustiness yes, and Hearts were well up for this game. Don't think Brown's departure had a telling impact on last night's score. In the long term...who knows?
fat_tony
First game in 3 and a half weeks, our players were getting booted up and down the park and the ref was turning a blind eye to any Jambo wrongdoing... No wonder they didn't look up for it. Bad day, that's all. We'll pick up again.
Yabba's Turd
Was it not the fact that Hearts learned something from the game at Tynecastle and that was how to eliminate our threats effectively? 1 game of football and we've chucked in the towel. Joeboy
Agreed Buxe, we're Motherwell, a 2-1 defeat is neither irregular or cause for concern.
Yabba's Turd
I'd love to have seen this forum during the 80's, we've had 1 piss poor season in about 12 years
weeyin
I'd love to have seen this forum during the 80's, we've had 1 piss poor season in about 12 yearsI was just thinking that. Any year we don't get relegated or get saved from relegation through reconstruction (or all-seater stadium rules) is not too bad.
Yabba's Turd
I think having lived the 70's and 80's Motherwell teams you get to know your place, when you're above it, when you're in it and definitely when you're below it. Right now we are probably heading back towards being in our place in the league, an average finish of 6,7,8.
Spiderpig
We were beaten by the best team in the league just now, ok it was a preventable OG and a pen but Hearts knew how to shut us down, every time a well player got the ball someone was right in their face so fair play to them. We will finish top 6 and be in the hunt for a European place come May, if you look at the league table, Hearts are the only consistent team outwith the old firm, but we went on a similar run last season and that ground to a halt eventually. Inverness will not stay where they are, i think they will end up top 6 though. The Hearts game was a bad day at the office, we need to concentrate on Aberdeen now, my prediction of the final table is 1-Rangers 2-Celtic 3-Hearts 4-motherwell 5-Dundee untd 6-Inverness Mon the well
