Kmcalpin
Presumably the club will just absorb the VAT increase? 40p extra per matchday ticket siphoned off by the Government.
Well_Jaggy
Well the ticket prices for the SPL games are already set for the season, so shouldn;t make a diffirence. Maybe next season.....
Joeboy
Yeah they'd have to charge absurd prices for tickets. 2.5% on to my season ticket is £7.25. Can't see them charging me £297.25 next year.
Scarecrow
Naw yer right enough........they will charge £

Joeboy
Aye right enough. I'm not working out what £290 minus 17.5% plus 20% is though!
Guest 'Flow
Presumably the club will just absorb the VAT increase? 40p extra per matchday ticket siphoned off by the Government. Yes, the club will absorb! Few SPL clubs aren't though, putting up ticket prices by £1 to cover the cost of the increase... Hearts and ICT being two of them. fizoxy
Did anyone drop their prices when VAT was cut?
'Wellfan 2k7
Did anyone drop their prices when VAT was cut? Probably not I'd assume. The Credit Crunch started at the end of the Recession so....
one_luc_nijholt
neither can I, since the price doesn't go up 2.5% how do you work that out?? at 17.5% a £100 item would cost £117.50 at 20% a £100 item would cost £120 a 2.5% increase on £100 purchase - £2.50 am i missing something?? Just curious??
Browni
Yes, because the £100 would have already included the 17.5% vat. To get the VAT exclusive price you divide the 100 by 1.175 which gives £85.11 Now add on 20% and you get £102.13 Difference of £2.13 I hope you don't/didn't go to Braidhurst
Kmcalpin
Another blow to hard pressed clubs. Clubs like the OF, Hearts and Hibs can't do much unless they target away fans as much of their gate income comes from season ticket holders. So at Tynecastle, away fans will be targeted? Spiderpig
Well the ticket prices for the SPL games are already set for the season, so shouldn;t make a diffirence. Maybe next season..... Definitely next season, i think we are going to see the VAT increase as well as any increase the Club makes going on to the season book prices and individual match tickets. As well as that Pies, programs, Bovril etc will all go up as well, so much for trying to encourage fans to come back to games
Browni
Not sure if you're right there Kmcalpin. When the season tickets were bought, VAT was charged at the prevailing rate on that day. There will be no further liability on the clubs.

But they can up the prices for pay at the gate fans. Also a bigger cut of transfer fees will be siphoned off by the Government.
