Steve Diggle
Lets make motherwell a jedi religion club! May the 3rd Force be with you. To be fair a lot of the guys that sit behind me look like Yoda Anyway - was reading more of Doncaster's scintillating chat and this tickled ma funny bone. Doncaster said on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound programme. "No one else has put any alternatives up. I think those who want 16 teams in the top flight are deluding themselves. Whhhhaaaaat? Sorry Neil can you explain what an alternative proposal would consist of?
nethertonwellfan
Lets make motherwell a jedi religion club! Islam has a bigger following and we already have enough of them in this area to get us off to a good start attendance wise. Then the family of the supporters will come over later on and our attendance will increase greater. We can even make a killing with an arabic edition of the programme and claret and amber Burka. Easy Target
Along with a new league structure, is there any plans to bring in referees who aren't completely and utterly incompetent. It's not just the structure of the league that needs sorting. It's the whole mess of Scottish Football that needs taking a look at.
fat_tony
I was ahead of my time... Surely we'd need a more fundamentalistic religion. I can safely say that I haven't seen many Buddhist bigots...

Kris*Kaizer 2*Nunn
“What we do have to bear in mind is the importance of the funds we receive from TV deals, other media and sponsors. We are unfortunately already in a position where our best players can move to lower leagues in other countries for significantly increased wages and any further reduction in income from those sources will only make this problem worse. This will lead to a decline in the quality on the pitch" Well the reason they can pay better wages is over the years they got a structure that is fair on everyone! (3 up and 3 down, fair pay out's in tv revenue etc) When it was fair they money they received meant they could by players and as it was a level playing field the teams improved and it made the league better which then attracted the tv's to offer more money. Dont come accross as desperate for any tv revenue You want to show that your good enough without it and make the tv stations bid to get the rights to your league. So far im not impressed with anything i have heard and the longer everyone pussyfoots about the real issues in Scottish football the worse it will be. The death of scottish football is here peeps and were not going backwards we've plummeted off the edge

(just a snippet) Our priority for reforms will be behind those fundamental and substantial measures that stand a chance of arresting the decline in average attendances, commercial performance and sporting achievement at a club and national team level. Our number one priority would be the introduction of a substantial ‘winter-break’ and a Spring/early Summer start to the football calendar. The commercial, practical and cultural advantages of this we believe are compelling. We also support innovations around the timing of games throughout the week to secure maximum attendance, new audiences and commercial advantage. The mention of attendance quite alot. Well if this proposal goes ahead MFC directors your obectives set out in your statement on October 20th are doomed to fail. Thanks for the statement though. The_Craig
I’d advocate a 2-team top tier as a solution. On the moon... The problem seems to be that we are trying to strike a balance that appeals to the greed of the gruesome twosome as well as adding to the coffers to the 'poor, downtrodden diddy teams'. As mentioned earlier, why don't the 'Provincial 10' get together and get the Mould-Firm to fuck. Let them play their glamour friendlies and each other every week if they want and let everyone else get on with trying to organise a football league. Hell, we could even ask to come back to the SFL. It's like leaving home when your 18. You don't think you'll manage or your be eaten by alsatians (or was that just me...) but you never know until you try. GTF RANGERS AND CELTIC! Wellfan1984
Just seems the Clubs that are going with this, including Motherwell don't have the ability to improve the product or to market it! So instead of bother trying they'll just hope the punter who loses money week in, week out to watch sub-standard entertainment, in a sub-standard stadium will continue to do so. It's time these "money" men start earning their fancy dan titles, or at least have the baws to admit they don't have a fucking clue on what their customer base wants... Cuntos the lot of them! Amber_nectar
The media may want bigger more intertaining games but what happens when there are no fans in the stadiums. Will the media still want the product. Motherwell sorry John Boyle spent a small fortune on players wages when he first bought the club and as far as I can recall the product on the park was not that great infact some may argue players we have brought through our youth system have been of a better quality. McFadden, Pearson, Reynolds, Hammell, Murphy. Players we had when we had money Karl Ready, John Spencer, Ged Brannan, Don Goodman. Scottish teams have always lost players to the English leagues so lets just get over it. We have some really good young players in this country so lets start promoting them. I went to watch Livi under 19's v motherwell under19's not that long ago and the quality of some of the football on show from Livingston was fantastic to watch. Slick one touch ball on the ground football. Some of the best football I have seem this season. Stop thinking we have to compete with the english league because we can't. Accept the fact we are what we are. I have always been much happier watching a young promising players giving his all than watch an over paid numpty from some second rate english league. The best players to pull on a Well shirt in recent times have been McFadden, McMillan, McCulloch, Quinn, Clarkson, Murphy all home grown talent so accept we grow, we sell. This is the way of Motherwell Football Club. Fine by me. Bigger league so these young talented lads get more first team action.

Great point! Thing is was Derek Weir not brought in to help us get more money? proven track record in the banking industry, he also got some awards for his abillity to turn a dying bank into profit and he agrees with this? i also find it quite interesting JB isint on the panel and it's Derek
Al Pacino
As others have said why don't we tell the Old Firm to accept the same TV money as the rest of the league or GTF? If Rangers were given the ultimatum of accept what's on offer or fuck off surely they'd have to accept in their current financial state?
