fizoxy
I'd say 30-odd goals in 80 games or so makes him half decent. That's on a par with the likes of Skippy, Clarky and Porter. Most of those goals have been in the SPL, so I reckon he's managing not too bad in the top division. Chances are that if he plays as many games for us as Tommy Coyne did he'll have a few more goals. joe90
Aye right. Scoring against Dundee and Stranraer makes him a hero? Get real.He is too slow to cut it in the SPL and even missed 3 good chances yesterday. I have nothing against the big man but you lot are talking sh1te. Why do you think the last 4 managers have not relied on him as a striker? Cause he isnae! who do we have thats better?
mjw
This is the first thread I have read where everyone is in agreement. Also if anyone has a comment against the rest of this positive feed back please think again before posting. Kmcalpin
John Sutton is a decent sort - a good profesional who'll put in a shift but probably not what we require right now. We need far more mobility than he can provide especially if we're playing only one striker up front. Still, a good squad member, if he's prepared to accept such a role. Well Up For It!
Have to agree with all thats been said....top professional and one of the most honest, humble, genuine guys at the clubs. What he lacks in pace and technical ability he more than makes up for it in workrate and desire. Would be gutted to see him go in the summer! Yabba's Turd
He's alright Big John, but undeserving of the Lasley man love until he scores the winner against Utd to take us back to Hampden.
carlukemurray
nice to see Sutton getting some praise, he has his limitations but he does wear his heart on his sleeve and gives everything. he didn't complain when brown stuck him out on the left, he kept his head down and got on with it. Suts would be in my first eleven ever time but let's not compare him to The Cobra! I think Coyne played about 120 matches and scored 60 odd goals so Suts won't be that far behind in terms of appearances.

steelboy
After about 25 years I'm still waiting for someone to get 20 in a season. Faddy was closest with 19. chrissy p looked a cert for it at xmas 07 but post phil the games were a bit more of a grind. porter's record of 27 in 67 games is still very impressive though. right now sutton's record is very similar to foran who had 35 goals in 104 games. if sutty had the stones to take (and score pens) he could have another dozen or so to his name.
